i express bottles for my lo and the odd time she gets a formula feed if im out and my oh runs out of breast milk but i only sterilise once a day, usually after a feed i just rinse out the bottle in hot water and reuse, is there any risks with this or is it alright? :flower:

I think its ok to just rinse and sterilise once a day when using bottles for breast milk as its sterile, but with formula I would probably be a bit more cautious and sterilise after each use. xxx

I found switching to a cold water milton type steriliser helped us in that I didn't have to go out of my way to sterilise any bottles - wash - plonk in the sterliser and leave there till needed. Having to sit and think about when I needed to put the steriliser in the microwave (that it barely fit in anyway) wasn't working for us - but changing the solution once a day is a doddle in comparison.

I don't know if it's ok or not, but I stay safe and sterilise after every use.

when i was bf i used cold water and sterilising fluid as it was a matter of washing them and dropping them in. grabbing them as needed.

its probably better to be over cautious at this stage. however a good friend of mine who was bf never sterilised anything, and her little boy was fine.

Like the others have said with formula it is best to sterilise after each use as warm formula milk is a perfect environment for bacteria to grow in and just rinsing may not get rid of this
