We have a steam steriliser and sterilise 2 bottles at a time.

1. When they're done we close them up and put them empty in the fridge. Is this ok? How long are they sterile for?

2. Should I be putting cooled boiled water in them to keep them sterile?

3. I put the formula in them for overnight - is this ok?

they stop being 'sterile' when you open the lid of the steriliser, so tbh if you only do 2 at a time you are as well just taking one out of the steriliser when you need it, not sure why you would put them in fridge

there are mega debates about how to make up a bottle, i guess following the instructions is the best way for mums to start until you find your own groove so to speak - i make in advance, well i will do when i start the poweder palava and then i cool them and store in fridge, i only do this as it was the way to do it the last 2 times so feels quite natural for me

also had a word with midwife this moring who thinks we are being told to make one at a time by pen pushing twats who reckon we are all imbiceels and cannot manage to chill a bottle lol x

It's personal choice really, I think everyone knows what the guidelines are but if you followed the guidelines then you'd never leave the house!

If the bottle is airtight then they are sterile for 24 hours.

I make 4 bottles up in the morning and store them in the fridge for the day. When Brady was still feeding in the night then I used to make up 2 bottles in the evening (about 10pm) and take them to bed in a thermal bottle bag.

Some people take the water in the bottle and put the powder in when their LO wakes up.

It's up to you hun.

I have 3 bottles & sterilize them once a day along with the dummies. I dont really make a big fuzz about it, anyways, b4 using any of the bottles I wash it with boiled water 1st even if it's sterilized
