Is it normal to be almost 40 weeks and still have not lost your mucus plug? I'm assuming this probably means I'm still not dilated or anywhere near having my baby.

Im not aware that I ever lost my plug (before labor), hell, my water didn't break until I was pushing my son out lol. I think the progression of labor in that respect is different for everyone. Don't feel discouraged!!

I havent either I have been having a weird thickish discharge but compared to my first it doesnt seem as much. Some people dont even see their mucus plug apparently. Last time I started losing on a friday and didnt go into labor until tuesday. Fingers crossed this is sooner

I didn't lose mine with DD. I was induced at 41+5.

Sometimes people lose it (days) before going into labour, other people won't lose it until they're in labour and I think it's also possible to not notice it, but I guess that's most likely if you're already in established labour seeing as you're too busy with contractions etc... cause I remember how much there was from my first time!! I doubt anyone can miss that if you're not having anything else going on yet since it doesn't all seem to come out in one big piece...

I'm 40+2 today and haven't had anything yet..... I must admit I'm always a little disappointed when I go to the toilet and the tissue is clean but at the same time I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I didn't lose mine at all unless it was during labour and I was 2cm from 39w.

I didn't get any signs though, I went to bed feeling normal and woke up a few hours later with contractions.

With both of my pregnancies I never lost mine. (Or at least I've never saw it if I did.) I had my daughter at 38+1 and my son at 39+1. With my daughter my water broke first and I started having contractions about 45 minutes later.

With my first baby, I had a check at the hospital when I was 39+4 and they said I wasn't dilated at all and they didn't expect me to go into labour anytime soon.

I lost my mucus plug the next day and went into labour about an hour after that.

With my second baby I didn't lose it until I was actually in labour and even then it wasn't very noticeable.

I believe, with my first, that I lost my mucus plug a few days before my water broke. I ended up getting induced because labor never started, though.

With my second, I had lost parts of my mucus plug for probably two weeks before she was born. I didn't go into spontaneous labor, anyway though - I got induced at 39+1.

With my youngest, I don't remember losing any of my mucus plug at all. I was induced at 40+4 in the end.

I don't think losing your mucus plug is a reliable sign of labor, especially if it's not your first child. Like most other things during pregnancy, it's a really individual experience for each mom/baby. :flower:

Im in the same boat. Im 40+2 and no signs at all. With my first I started losing my plug at 38 weeks but didnt have her until 40+6. Im really hoping this doesnt mean Im still weeks away from giving birth! With my daughter I had sweeps though and none this time so wonder if that makes a difference..

40+3 today and just lost some bits earlier tonight. Seems to be coming away very slowly though..... But think I'm having some contractions, very far apart, but it's a start! :happydance:

I never lost any of mine with dd1,2 and 4 or not that I realised anyway. With dd3 I lost it about 3 hours before I had her and with DS about 20 hours before. :)
