My hubby and I made the decision not to tell anyone what sex our baby is.. and we've kept to it so far.

I phoned my mum today for a chat, and she tells me shes been buying girls clothes! Now i feel really bad because i know shes wasted her money... but i refuse to tell her its a boy.

Feel like a right mean cow but i refuse to say just because shes gone and bought on her own presumption... she thought my first was a girl and she was wrong.. so why on earth has she gone and bought what she thinks this time. ARGGH its nice of her to buy clothes.. but why didn't she just buy neutral things like id suggested.

By the time baby comes along its going to be far too late to take them back for a refund so shes definitely wasted the money on them. :dohh:

does she know you know what it is?

perhaps she was saying that then to get you to say what it is.

Yeah, maybe she was trying to trick you :) Otherwise, ebay the things when bubs is here xx

yeah everybody is aware that we know the sex. I dont think she was, but its possible. I shall just have to wait and see.. and if she has bought pink then either she will have to sell it or I will and replace it with boys clothes. x

:dohh: Oh no. You're right not to tell though, well done for sticking to your decision. :hugs:

I think that was pretty sneaky of her actually if she does know that you know the sex - obviously hoping that you would blurt it out! If she thinks that you don't know then it's still a bit daft as she could have wasted her money anyway. You were right not to tell her if that's what you want to do, don't feel guilty about it. X

I just don't understand why she would go out and buy girls stuff if she doesn't know! Unless she has sneakily bought both and just trying to guilt you into telling her. We also decided not to tell anyone the baby's gender but we have pretended that we didn't find out so it's a bit easier on us and we will get lots of neutral things which would be a relief if baby turns out to be a surprise boy on the day :haha: Well done for sticking to your guns though, I would keep my mouth shut if I was in the same situation - if people want to waste their money and go against your advice, then that's up to them!

oh dear thats not good, but stick to your guns. shell find out soon enough

thanks ladies i dont feel so mean now. Shes just really convinced im having a girl.. so is my dad and best friend. So i could end up with a lot of unneeded girls clothes when Ethan is born lol x

That's amazing will power to stick to not telling anyone! If people knew we knew that would be it! Especially hubby's family, they wouldn't rest until they'd dug it out of us! Which is unfair as it's our decision but I couldn't put up with that kind of pressure for 4.5 months.

lol we said from day one that we weren't telling anyone.. so even if wed said we couldnt find out they would know we were lying (although we very nearly couldnt find out.. only in the last 2 minutes did we see a little willy and scrotum).

My best friend shell not rest till i tell her but i just told her no matter what she says or does i wont tell her.. and if she pees me off ill kick her out when shes visiting lol. This is my surprise for my dad and i promised him it would remain secret until baby is born.

Wish people presumed boy and bought clothes.. hahah theres some real cute stuff i like in shops i cant get to that they can pmsl :haha: Online clothes shopping is just not going to be the same as the real thing.. but needs must. x

Well done for sticking to your guns. I'd like to think I'd do the same if I wanted to keep it secret. I sort of wanted to do it this time but got excited when we got told it might be a boy! :dohh: But that's ok, I knew I would tell over keeping it. I'm just not that strong! :haha:

If she has indeed bought girl things, (I mean this in the nicest, most light-hearted way) more fool her. How lovely of her to do so, but it's not your fault she has it wrong. Maybe she's fishing for answers, like someone said... There was always the option for her to buy neutrals though so you shouldn't feel bad about it. Bless her heart!

lol yeah im of the same agreement. its her own fault.. but still feel kinda bad coz i know shes going to keep buying girl things. she said shes got some cot sheets n stuff.. heres hoping they're not pink haha as that is one thing i do need and i cant say "what colour are the cot sheets so i know if i need to buy more myself" :dohh::dohh::dohh: who knew keeping it a secret would be such a pain in the ass lol

Dont worry,by the time you have a gorgeous little boy she'll be so thrilled that the money she spent on girly bits wont even cross her mind! As u said it was her choice to go and buy bits, she knew you weren't revealing the sex, she knew there was a 50%chance she'd be replacing them in a few months! You could take my oh's stance on things and just pop littlun in the clothes anyway, apparently he doesnt care about gender stereotypes and has bought two dark blue chelsea babygrows for our little pinky!! Lol.xxxx

shell be thrilled either way i think.. she loves newborns lol. If the things she buys are not little dresses or something that can really really only be put on a girl then im not bothered about putting pink on my lil guy. my son has a bright pink sleevless jumper. x

Aww cute! yeah ur right, much easier to put a girl in boy clothes than a boy in frilly dresses!lol. just hope the sonographer was right on the sex of our little bub or 'he' could be wearing frilly dresses in a hello kitty room.lol.xxx

hahahaha oh no.. i hope for your sake they got it right. My boys room is all white and im in the process of painting sayings on the walls so if they were wrong can just paint over it easily x

I wanted to keep a secret but OH said if we knew he wouldn't be able to keep it to himself... so we stayed team yellow :) lol! xxx

hahaha weve had a few close calls so far but managing.... JUST. still 18 weeks to slip up though lol

OH's family would have bullied it out of him tbh! Which is really unfair but they would have. So I'm glad we don't actually know (though I think its a girl lol) xx
