Evie had her consultant appointment on monday and we've been told to stop all meds for 2 weeks and have a follow up appointment.

Since stopping Ranitidene and Domperidone Evie has been very clingy with me all week and very very unsettled at night. She will sleep 7pm - 9pm and then wont settle properly until about 1am. She will sleep but will fidget, kick her feet and legs and generally wiggle and toss and turn while still having a quick breastfeed in-between and she has never been this unsettled at night for this long. We've both been very tired :coffee:

However all the 'usual' reflux signs have gone.

She hasn't been sick, not straining or back arching (especially when nursing) so I'm wondering if this is still intact reflux of just a blip?

She has been having more hiccups and I know that's a reflux sign and has been snotty too

Do you think it's still reflux or just a coincidence??

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Charlotte is still on her reflux meds as everytime I've tried to wean her off them we have a flare up. She doesnt show the typical baby signs of reflux any more but we get very unsettled nights & she sometimes throws up after her milk. Is there any way you could ring the consultant first thing Monday & either ask for advice or an earlier appointment? It seems strange to ask them to just completely stop them without giving you any advice on what to do if you get a flare up.

Thanks for the reply ;)

When on the meds she is fine but this week she has been a different child, clingy and generally grumpy and last night was so bad.

We have put her back on the meds for a few more days to see if she id better then will take her off again.

Consultant didnt say what to do if it flared up again :shrug:

Maybe try to wean her off her meds slowly, like offering her the med before bedtime only?

I weaned ollie off his meds we were lucky tho stage 2 food settled his i just had to watch fruit then transition onto normal food totally stopled it.

Id say by the sounds of Evie at night she is still mildly refluxy n would prolly benefit from somethin at night, can u mention this to someone before the two weeks are up or i cant see it being happy in your homexx

That's a hard one. My boy still has reflux episodes at 16 months (so much for the whole 'it ends at 6 months!') so it could be a coincidence. Try the weaning and then go from there if that seems like a plan.

Hugs, hope it is gone for you guys!

Omar's last episode was 2 weeks back. he was given a new med (I don't know it's name as it's at mum's) , but his paed advised us to use it for 1 week only before solids. Teething was really affecting his gagging reflex & his reflux. Now he has all his teeth, I really hope he's finally over his reflux xx
