Strange m/c - next af???

I learnt that my baby's heart stopped on the Tuesday when I had a small bleed. Went for medical mgmt on the Weds but nothing happened.

On Thurs a passed maybe 2 pea sized lumps and a few bloody jelly blobs (sorry tmi), then a little brown discharge on Thurs. No cramps and no blood.

Went for a scan today and apparently the WHOLE of the pg has left my body. There's nothing left, and my uterine lining is just 5.5mm - nowhere near what it would be in a premenstrual woman.

I have no idea how this has happened.

Has anyone had this experience, and if so, any idea when I might expect af to return? Normal cycle length is 31 days but is often a couple days longer.

The small tissue bits passed last Thurs, so now technically 5 days past m/c I guess? Got to to a neg hpt, she said I cld try today otherwsie try in a week and go back if not neg.

Nurse said next af may be heavier and clottier than normal, but that the m/c itself has already taken place.

Hiya, and sorry for your loss, sweetie!

You should normally expect your af anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks after your mc. For some it takes less time for some more for their cycles to get back to normal.

My main advice would be to expect the unexpected and allow your body the time it needs to heal.

As you have passed everything and not bleeding/spotting anymore you can if you so wish ttc again. Your body will only get pg if things are back to normal so you have nothing to worry about there. As you've already been told, once you've passed everything you can count that as cd 1.

Keep an eye on your cm as that will probably be the best indicator of when you're ov'ing and as thus you know you will get af at some point. Although i also know my luteal phase (time from ov to af- which rarely, if never, changes) i do expect to get af about 13 days after i ov. Having said that..anything goes after a mc..so its just wait and see territory im afraid.
