So I am 5 weeks 1 day today. I have been doing beta tests, because I have had a previous ectopic, and have been experiencing some pain! Two days ago I was sent to the hospital. My HCG was good, but nothing on the ultrasound. Today I went to do my ultrasound, and we saw two black circles. One smaller than the other. The tech said there was no yolk, so they're technically not a gestational sac. After talking to the doctor he said they could be pseudo-gestational sacs. He also said that, that was not as big of a concern because my hcg is good, and I have no pain. We are repeating the test on Monday, and doing more blood draws! Could this be twins? If it is pseudo-gestational sacs, can there be two?! So confused. Worried about there being no yolk sac.

Here are my numbers
25-77 (two days)
77-243 (two days)
243-1622 (three days)
1622-4067 (two days)

I need some researchers, because I can't find anything! There definitely is two black circles! I wasn't on fertility drugs.

At 5 weeks, you won't see anything but empty sacs really. Maybe a yolk sac but def not baby or a hb. The fetal pole doesn't develop until 6 weeks and the hb doesn't start until a day or two later so I wouldn't worry. Your hCG is rising nicely and there is at least one sac visible. Since there are two, I'd say yes there is the possibility you have a twin pregnancy. I'd wait and see what the results are of your follow up tests. Good luck!

I also have 2 round circles on my ultrasound at 4 weeks 6 days and was wondering the same thing

It is estimated that nearly 1 out of 8 pregnancies begin as twins, although only around 1 out of 100 (although this depends also on your race/ethnicity and family history of multiples) actually end in the birth of twins. Now that we get ultrasounds so early we are able to detect it, but that also means much of the time one of the twins vanishes. Not trying to be negative, just throwing it out there that the next time you have an ultrasound there may only be one, and that is very normal and common.

I was about to post the same as purplecupcake, it sounds positive that you saw the starts of gestational sacs and your HCG numbers are great, but as mentioned already, a lot of pregnancies start as twins, but sadly don't continue to develop as such. One theory is that all left handed people started as twins!

Hope you have a great next scan.
