Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me asking here, have popped over from BF. When I go back to work in a few weeks I am going to be expressing probably twice a day, so will need to sterilise stuff at work. I am thinking cold water will be easier than steam strerlising as I can just take in my travel strerilizing box and some milton tablets, but when I have strerilized the stuff, do I need to rinse it over with boiled or cooled boiled water before using it? I know when it comes out it smells of the sterlilzing chemicals, I don't quite like the idea of them getting into the milk? What do other people who use cold water methods do? Thnaks, :)

once you sterlize the bottle you can keep it in a cool place.
if you can keep it in refrigerator then also it is okay.
this is what i do for my kid.

You shouldnt rinse them after they have been sterilised or they wont be sterile anymore, well i think that still applies, i know it did years ago when cold water was the only option

Thanks ladies, Polo is that the case even if I rinse it with bioled water?

If you don't like the idea of the chemicals, then maybe microwave would be a better option if there is one available to use?

Yes, I could use a microwave, was just hoping to avoid buying another sterilizer as I already have an electic steam one for home but there is a mircowave in the staffroom, as it is only for a few weeks maybe I will look for a cheap one on ebay. Thanks, :)

I'm sure Asda have some for £10, and Aldi might have some left for the same price if you have either of those shops near you!

i got a micro steriliser for less then £4 in tesco

might be the wrong advice....
but cant you sterilize them at home and put the lid on..and keep them in the fridge in work then once youve expressed just put them back in the fridge.

i have never BF so sorry if that advice is nonsense!!

xxx

I use a cold water sterilizer and just shake the excess water from the bottles before use. I've not had a problem doing that.
