Sorry but just need to have a rant (as usual!)

Ok so OH and I have been sharing a house with his friend and I have never been over the moon about it but recently, the friend has decided to be soooo lazy - he has one job here which is to take the recycling out (which he has done since September) yet recently it hasn't been done cos he "forgot what day it was collected".
Then the other day after OH and I had done allllll the washing up, there was one cooking dish of ours and a spatula soaking in the sink... His friend decided to take our 2 things out, leave them on the side and wash just his things!!
He keeps leaving lights on (he is too lazy to open curtains so has all the lights on now), he left the oven on for god knows how long once, he drinks until 5am each day and is not someone I want living with us when we have a baby!!!!!

Thank God my OH has seen sense and decided it is time for us to get a place of our own but we can't afford anywhere with the amount of space we need! :(
The place we *could* afford is a shared ownership thing but OH doesn't want us getting a mortgage at the mo as he gets a bit of money in 5 years so we could afford deposit on a house then... so we will have to suffer with a less than perfect place til then IF we find one.

I am so stressed about it all!!!!!! and then work on top of that... I just wanna scream!!!!!!! :(
:hissy:
rant over... for now!

I understand me and OH still need to move out and money situation etc is getting really stressful! Glad your OH has seen sense though definitely don't want a baby in a house with someone like that!

Xx

I just gotta talk him into getting a mortgage now =\

Been looking into shared ownership schemes and they sound pretty good and do-able too but he's dead against the idea :(

You tried your local counils? I know they have lengthy waiting lists but worth a try maybe.

Can I recommend Gumtree too. Very affordable properties and usually cheaper than estate agents. Still get contracts etc

Were lucky we rent a huge 3 bedroom house from a friends mum for £500 a month which is reasonable for around here. Yes council would be much cheaper but for where we need to live, need to be close to OH's work to avoid having to get an extra car would mean living on rough housing estates hence why we private rent on a better estate.

is it possible just to rent for a while?

The one we looked into you had the option to buy the property over the years but had to buy at no less than 5% each time. We looked into them but would be no better off as by the time we paid mortgage and rent on the remaining half.

wow £500 is really good, 2 bed houses here are around £600 which is annoying :(
I have had a look on gumtree but there isn't much in the way of houses that we can afford, we have found a couple in the local paper's property section but when we tried to ring up about them there was no answer... plus we're hoping they would reduce the price too =\

Oh why can't we all have money trees!!!!!

Yes but it's all a bit too expensive really and the ones we can afford are all in bad areas. At least if we did a shared ownership it would be a good area. Probs will have to settle with renting a bit longer tho.

Yeah, I don't really understand them but from what I saw, it wouldn't be toooooo much...
I'm tempted to get a tent and live in someones garden for a few years!!!
