STRETCHY MUCUS and AF almost due, wot does this mean?

hey! i got a question i hope som1 can answer for me. k so me n my bubby have been ttc child no 3 for past 4 months. my AF is due in two days, i went out today and dint wanna get caught out by it so i used a tampon. this avi wen i took it out i noticed a clear thin discharge on it and during the finger test it stretched between 1-2 inch. as this is a sign of ovulation i took out my bbt chart just to make sure i got my thermal shift which i clearly have already this month. wots goin off? neva had this before? ne1 else experienced this? and if they have, has their AF followed? somebody plz give me a possible explanation for this. thanx for reading
