:wacko:OMG IM PREGNANT!!!
I am really happy that i am pregant but im a 2nd year student nurse. I have no idea what is going to happen with my course and bursery. could any one advise me.

all in all im happy as my mum has cancer which is terinal i am glad she will be able to see her first grandchild be born :)

In was doing a midwifery degree. If you're doing the degree and getting the means tested Bursary you are entitles to 45wks paid leave. I guess it's the same of you're on the non means tested.

Apparently some students took the nursery people to court a few years ago for the rights of maternity pay and we did rather well out of it. Had we been in general employment we wouldn't get 45wks full pay!

Edited to add, sorry to hear about your mum and I hope the babygives her some spirit to keep fighting xxx

thanks for your reply and i do hope it helps her fight on .

I think the best bet is to talk to uni about it.

ooo i cnt wait :)

I'm really sorry to hear about your Mum, but what a wonderful gift her grandchild will be.

I'm a third year student speech and language therapist and will be entitled to the 45 weeks paid maternity leave, plus I should also receive my student loan as usual. Once the baby is here I will get extra help from the NHS :)

I can recommend going to see your university's financial advisor, mine was so helpful :)

I'm just about to start my first year doing nursing and I'm 11 weeks. Really hope they are gonna let me keep going and actually do the course :/ x

Hi hun - congratulations! Defo speak to your uni though. We are TTC and I am in my second year of a child nursing degree as a mature student. We also get the bursary and 45 weeks leave, I expect that is nation-wide as the NHS funds everything but I'd still check if I were you! We have been told at my uni that they slot pregnant students back into the year below, although I will have to have my year 3 modules mapped if I fall pregnant this year due to the changes taking place on the course, however it shouldn't prove a problem with qualifying. Talk to your tutor and branch leader and make sure that risk assessments are carried out for your practice placements!
Good luck - and congratulations again!
