What are some things you've tried to relieve the "stuffy nose" during pregnancy? I think mine can partially be attributed to seasonal allergies. I cannot seem to get it under control. Help!

I've struggled all the way through third tri. I just blow my nose before bed and sleep with the windows open. Mine is not so much allergies as swollen capillaries in my nose and my lungs being shoved up in my chest cavity. Its rotten. I totally sympathise. :)

I've had a terrible time with this my whole pregnancy. Dr recommended using Neti Pot in the morning and at night and after two days, I noticed a big difference. I was on the verge of a sinus infection and called the doctor in tears. It was super gross to me bc I don't even like blowing my nose, but it's really not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's just a water and salt nasal rinse that flushes out allergens and things. In addition, I've been living off nose strips at night! It's the only way I can sleep, hope you feel better soon!

Steamy bathroom seems to help me a little bit. And a nice warm bath with a bit of menthol body wash.

I love and hate the Neti Pot. But, I guess I'll give in and try it this evening.

Might give your local pharmacist a try... see if they can recommend anything. When I was sick with a bad head cold, the pharmicist at Target looked up what was OK during pregnancy and recommended the one that had the least risks- I just couldn't breathe and it was horrible. But the nasal spray he advised was OK was a life savor! I only had to use it 1-2 times a day... and since it wasn't ingested, it wasn't so risky.

Might be worth a shot? Even if you just need relief occassionally at night? Best of luck hun!

I think I was developing a sinus infection, so I've had to begin a round of antibiotics.

I use these nose strips to keep my nostrils open a bit more and it works wonders for me!

Benadryl and zyrtec are both safe antihistamines to take in pregnancy, saline nasal spray, and Vicks vapor rub are great too.
