stupid question re isofix base

I have a mamas and papas primo viaggio isofix base in my car. I was just wondering if I got a new carseat, say Britax or maxicosi can i put this into the base i have or do i need to buy one which is the same make as the carseat?
Probably a really stupid question!

i was told at the weekend that you can use the next stage M&P in the base but not another make. ie, britax with britax base. maxi cosi with maxi cosi base. HTH

Yeah, each make have their own base.
