I normally have a 29 day cycle but last month it was 42 days. If i have longer cycles will 12-14 days after the first day of the last period still be when I ovulate?? sorry to be stupid.

The Luteal phase (days after ovulation) are always the same, it is the time from AF to Ov that can change and can be affected by lots of different factors, stress, extreme weight loss/gain, etc....So what I am trying to say is, no not necessarily you could ovulate on a different day.

I cant say for certain but im guessing it would about 2 weeks Before your next period, i could be wrong though

If you go to www.webmd.com and search for the ovulation calendar or the ovulation calculator you can put in your specific information and it will tell you what range of dates you are likly to ovulate.

If you have longer cycles. then generally speaking, you ovulate later.
I have 36 day cycles and I ovulate around day 22-24.
I would suggest tracking cervical mucus or use opk's. Personally, I track cervical mucus.
Hope this helps

It is worthwhile noting that some women can have a longer or shorter luteal phase. If you're not sure when you ovulate, then I'd recommend getting some ovulation sticks to pee on to see how things work for you so you can monitor things better.

Good Luck

I also had one month where the cycle was 38 days long, something bizarre for me since it's between 26-30 for me. The OBGYN said that it was okay, one month that is extra long shouldn't be a worry.

When we started fertility treatment the ultrasound showed a small polyp, benign, that was near one tube opening, and could cause abnormal cycle lengths. Just an idea that popped into my head when reading this.
