Hi Miel

Yes, I have SCH. At the moment I am in Greece so the course of treatment can be different from the States but this is what I was given as instructions.

First of all I had brown bleeding from week 5 that resulted in a massive red bleeding in week 6. The blood loss was huge and it was blood and clots and pain. I thought I was having a miscarriage. In the UK they dont prescribe anything they told me that i am probably loosing the baby and send me home. I took a flight to Greece were I am from.

My gyno here told me that part of my placenta had seperated from the uterus and probably that is why this was caused and he did the following:

- Scanned me and confirmed foetus and hb
- Put me on complete pelvic rest as well as bed rest
- Monitor me with weekly scans to check hematoma and baby's hb
- Gave me the following medication: Progesterone ( suppositories), Injections of Progesterone every week, Prezolone ( which is a corticosteroid), Paracetamol ( to stop the uterus from contracting due to the clot).

I am now week 12 and still taking them, but my bleeding has stopped for the past 3 weeks. When we scanned yesterday he couldnt see the hematoma. My doctor told me that my placenta is really low and that is why it seperated in the first place and we had the bleeding. He said it will most likely move upwards as the pregnancy progresses, but if not then worse case scenario will be placenta previa which involved a very bloody pregnancy.

He told me that the only drug that I will remain on from now on is the Prezolone, and as for bed rest he told me that I need to still take it easy, start standing up, walking a bit, but no house work, lifting or any strenuous activity.

There is a great group that I am part of that has been a great help to me. Here is the link: https://groups.yahoo.com/group/SCHGroup/

Usually from what I read, most doctors in the UK wont ask women to go on bed rest however in the US opinions differ. Most women on the above forum have been on some form of bed rest and have seen major results. Usually the site and location of heamatoma plays and important role. I personally swear by bed rest and I am convinced that this is what saved my baby.

I hope your SCH resolves very quickly. Usually they either bleed out or get absorved by the body by week 20. The brown blood is old blood my doctor said and not to worry when it comes out. He is only concerned about red fresh blood.

Big hugs anything you want to ask please do not hesitate XXXXX

thank you ...
they did not recommended bed rest for me :( part of me feel like i should but i own my own business so i need to be there....
they just told me if i was going to miscariage nothing i could do about it ...or like you my placenta will move up as well and the hematoma will reabsorb itself...
i have bleeding and clotting 10 days ago and bleeding brown on and off and saturday a massive bleeding ...since monday night nothing more....

The opinions really differ from doctor to doctor regarding bed rest. My advise to you, and I may be wrong as I am not a doctor, is to take things really easy. The gynos here really believe in bed rest and so far it has proven to be a saviour for me.

If you can get help at work, or really take things easy, work less hours etc, it would probably help, you know also, if your insticts tell you that you should rest then you should follow your heart. Deep inside, I knew that I felt better when I was resting and the bleeding was minimized day by day.

Regarding the size, 2 cm I think that is considered to be a small clot, but again I am not a doctor so its just what I've read on the Yahoo SCH Forum from other users.

The high risk users and the people that are in risk of placenta abruption have hematomas that exceed 6 cm. So I think that is good Miel!

Mine was measuring over 3 cm and we couldnt find it yesterday however I still take things easy and lie down as much as possible to minimize risk.

Hey ladies

Im 6+5 weeks pregnant. I had a scan yesterday and we saw a heartbeat :) but they also said I have a blood clot. They gave me no information of size what it is or.nothing. I'm really confused. I already have a beautiful princess and she was a really care free pregnancy. Im so worried. Please advise me. I've got another scan in 2 weeks to see whats going on xx

Hi everybody,

I am 10 Week Pregnant
Today I had an Ultrasound ,and my Doc write in the ultrasound report that "Small fluid seen in Cul de sec . retroplcanetal hematoma seens size 13*12*15 mm"
And Dr. told me, My baby is fine, but I am little scared about this .

Can anybody help me , I really need your suggestion.

Thanks in advance.

I had one with my daughter who's now 14months. As truly hideous as it is at the time they're not that bad. The majority disappear. Mine was quite big. I had loads of bleeding. The clot grew until I was about 16 weeks I think. Then it disappeared. It just went. I don't think bed rest makes a difference. I stopped exercising as I used to be a fanatic. But I carried on as normal otherwise.

Somewhere on this site there's a special forum for sch's - you should look it up. The vast majority of women go on to have a normal pregnancy. A few don't make it but there's no research to show that the lose has anything to do with the sch. The baby may not have made it otherwise. The way it was described to me was that it was a blood in the placenta. Your baby has no idea it's there- she's healthy and happy in her own little nest and it doesn't bother her.

Even when they grow theyre low risk.

Chin up!

Hi honey. Yes, I have a sch. They put me on pelvic rest. That's about it for now but I go back on Feb 16th for another scan so I'll find out more. :)

Hi. I have had 2 subchorionic hematomas this pregnancy. One went away. Had a massive bleed and another one was discovered. I've been on bed and pelvic rest. Your body will either reabsorb the clot or it will bleed out. Best of luck to you.

Since finding out last Tuesday I have a SCH I've only spotted lightly (red) two other times.. I haven't had any bleeding in 2 days now. Is that a good or bad sign?
