Hi Ladies,
I'm currently being referred to a fertility specialist in Suffolk, and wondered if any of you had an experience of this particular NHS trust. I'm guess I'm just looking for an idea of what to expect etc.
I'll give you all a bit of background. Please bear with me as I'm fairly new to posting on this forum and am still trying to get to grips with the abbreviations etc.
I was diagnosed with PCOS around 8 years ago, and given my age at the time, didn't think too much into it. I was 21 and the thought of having children seemed so far in the future that I figured I'd worry about it when the time came. Well, that time's now here! I should also mention at this point that I have a history of eating disorders, which have reeked more havoc on my already messed up cycles.
My DH and I started TTC #1 almost 15 months ago and so far, nothing! I know 15 months isn't long in the grand scheme of things and others try for years, but I guess I'm just looking for some advice.
I have asked my GP about Clomid and Metformin, which she has said she would be happy to prescribe, but she wants me to see the specialist first, which brings me to my first lot of questions:
- Has anyone been referred within Suffolk? If so, what sort of time are we looking at to get an appointment after the initial referral? I appreciate this probably varies, but even a ball park figure world be useful.
- Has anyone used Clomid and Metformin together? Do you have any experiences, success stories you could possibly share?
This maybe a bit of a long shot, but has anyone used anything bar OPK's or tiger thermometers to detect ovulation? I've tried using both and can't seem to get an accurate measure with either. My DH is away a lot, as he's in the military, and it's starting to feel like we're fighting a loosing battle.
Apologies for any spelling mistakes etc, I'm writing this on my phone.
Any advice you ladies could give, would be very much appreciated!
