We went in August last year, and we went in August 2009 as well. It's really not so bad in terms of crowds, but OMG the number of wasps is through the roof. Wasps wasps wasps wasps EVERYWHERE. They just don't do anything about the wasps. Forget being able to sit down and eat a picnic or something because it's impossible, you just get covered in wasps.
However in terms of crowds we didn't have too much of a problem. We went to Drayton Manor as well last August and that place was WAY busier than Sundown.
I mean, don't get me wrong, it wasn't "dead" by any means, there were a fair number of people, but the kids did get to go on everything they wanted to go on.
