Super confused

Ok so this is my first time tracking my ovulation and using preseed. Me and my husband are ttc and im not sure im completley understanding when i will ovulate. My period ended on december 31st. I started the opk's on jan. 3rd my test lines were really light untill jan. 6th at 9:40pm. That is when it was finally the same shade as the control line. I took another one today (jan 7th) at 1pm. And the test line seems to be getting even darker then the control line. Im very confused. Have i already ovulated or am I in the process of ovulating or am I about to ovulate. Please help?!

you want the test lines to be darker then the control lines, so if it is getting darker I would say you should be getting ready to ovulate, what is you period cycle?

Roughly 31 days. I took another one earlier and its still just as dark. I read once the line starts to lighten and go back to "neg" that thats when your egg has been released. Is this true???
