I have been MIA from the boards for SOOO long because after I lost my miracle baby in February I just had to stop obsessing and give myself a little time and every time I'd come back I'd find myself obsessing even more so I just had to distance a little bit. This cycle I started taking supplements. Some of them I know are safe during pregnancy (the usuals like omegas, probiotics, vitamin B, C, and calcium along with a prenatal). Some of them, however, I know are probably not safe during pregnancy but I'm not sure when to stop them.
A little back story, I have PCOS and never ovulate on my own (Until December 29th that is! But that was induced by supplements! Eeeeee!).
Last year, I got pregnant after taking provera to induce AF, clomid, and then an ovidrel trigger shot to force ovulation. My progesterone levels were extremely low and I had to use suppositories. I didn't lose my baby because of low progesterone, but for the first two weeks of suppositories, my doctor was very concerned that I was going to. So, the supplements that I am taking that increase progesterone levels are the ones I am most concerned about because if I stop them and my levels drop before I know whether I am pregnant, that would be bad.
Anyway, my OB is very against anything herbal or homeopathic so his advice is always to only go the medicinal route, so I can't get good advice there about this subject. I'm just looking for advice based on experience or previous knowledge you may have...Here is part of my supplement list.
FertiliTea- I already stopped this because I only drank it until ovulation
Vitex 400mg- I lowered the dose from 3 to 2 but I'm not sure I should completely stop because of the progesterone issue.
Maca- Which I ran out of the other day so I stopped that also
Chromium 500mcg- Two per day
DIM-Two per day
Licorice Root 450mg- 3 per day
Evening Primrose 500mg- 3 per day. I already stopped these because I only used them for cervical fluid up until ovulation.
I know licorice root and vitex are not supposed to be used during pregnancy but I have seen situations where people continued vitex until the first trimester was over so their progesterone levels wouldn't plummet. I'm just wondering if it's something I could or should at least take until I get a BFP and have an appointment with my ob or a midwife.
I'm only 5DPO and already going crazy waiting to test. Ovulating without fertility medicine just has me SO hopeful for a rainbow baby!
Sorry for the length but THANK YOU if you've read this far!
