So i gave Lily FOB surname as we were happily together and expected to be together forever, obviously not but can i change her name to double barreled without FOB permission i know i cant change it completely but some how i really want to drop his surname

I am not sure, ring your local registrars office, they will know the 'rules'

One of my friends seen a solicitor about this and was advised she would need fob's permission to do it. It might vary in different areas though so I agree it's a good idea to phone registar to check xx

Hi hun, I did and thought the same as you. Gave Ellie his surname thinking one day I would have the same surname and we were happy etc...... I have just got her name changed to mine though I made an appointment with a solicitor who sent a letter to fob that he had to sign and send back, it took 3weeks as he was dragging his feet but we got there in the end. Im guessing it will be the same process to change it to a double barreled surname, if fob is on the birth cert he has 50/50 say so, so he will have to be contacted. Have you spoken to fob about changing lo's surname?

Hes would never let me change it to mine, hes a horrible person

I can't change my daughter's either. I've decided it's not the most important thing, although I'd rather her have my last name.
