Surrogacy?

Wow this was an interesting read.

To the lady who was thinking about using a surrogate (sorry I have forgotten your screen name) don't be put off using a surrogate to carry your baby. Do howver, do as someone else suggested and exhaust all other avenues and get tests etc done.

Surrogacy in the UK is not illegal but being paid to carry the child is.

Regardless of whether you are carrying a baby via host or straight surrogacy, the surrogate mother is classed as the biological mother. This means that she DOES have the right to change her mind but very rarely does that happen. This is what the media does to people, portrays only the bad side to surrogacy which is such a shame.

It is indeed illegal to advertsise in the UK for or to be a surrogate but there are organisations as one lady mentioned, like Surrogacy UK and COTS (childlessness overcome though surrogacy). Both of those are well know organisations although peoples opinions on them both vary greatly.

You can also join one of the many independant forums for surrogacy (most people call it Indie) but if you want to know about those I can always send them to you in a PM.

Good luck with whatever you decide x
