So Im 15 weeks tomorrow and have been hearing my peanut on the doppler. I know the taps on the doppler is baby kicking and moving around...however I was hearing all this swimming noise like something was swimming in a bunch of fluid. Then it would get really loud as it was passing by the doppler and get quieter again. Ive never heard this before and wonder if its baby swimming all around or having to do with digestion. It literally sounds like someone swimming around and not a whooshing sound that the placenta makes. Also it wasnt until i wasnt hearing it anymore when I could finally catch peanuts hb. Just curious if others have experienced this and know if it definitely was baby.

No its a completely different sound than the placenta. I know what the whoosh of the placenta sounds like. When i was getting this swimming sound, I would follow it around with the doppler from one side to the other almost it wasnt just in one spot. It didnt sound windy like an actual woosh. It sounded like something swimming in liquid. It was a bubbly liquid sound. I tried googling it but not much came up. And pretty much where ever the swimming sound went i would get kicks from the baby hitting the doppler. So thats why its got me curious.

At my last doctor appointment, when we were listening for the heartbeat, my doctor said the baby is moving a lot and that's what that sound was. I didn't know you could hear the movement and I only hear it at my doctor's office and I'm pretty sure he knows the difference between normal noise and movement...but I don't so I couldn't tell you if it sounds anything like placenta or not. I had no idea placenta made a sound. If it helps though, yes, you can hear movement through the Doppler.

Ok so ive been looking up youtube videos to see if i could try and confirm that i was indeed hearing movement with those swimming sounds. I found a video where the first few sounds are the exact that i was hearing and she even says its baby moving. The sounds at the beginning sound like swimming in fluid making bubble type sounds. For me the sounds lasted way longer, so baby was obviously quite active. Here is the link to the video i watched: https://youtu.be/P4P8NIVvInQ
