my boy at that age probably had alot more than that, and now at 12 weeks feeds every 3 hours and has between 6 and 7 ozs a bottle, he'll have about 7 or 8 in a day. I've been told its too much, I'm trying hungry baby formula again hoping it will help. I started last night, he went 8 hours straight sleeping last night, then went 4 hours before another bottle, and we are currently coming up to another 4 hours. This is totally unheard of so im hoping its working.
I have a big baby, he's not fat, not at all, he is long, at 8 weeks he was in the 98th percentile for his height, I wouldn't be surprised if thats gone up now cos he's so tall.
All babies are different, if your baby is hungry he has to be fed. I've always fed mine on demand, thats what we are told to do and I dont see that I could have done anything differently. Yes perhaps its alot of formula, but some babies need it.
The hvs have advised me to wean him early, they were tempted to get me to start now but now say to hold out til 16 weeks. The reason they want me to wean early is because he is going up and up the centile chart, and if he carries on guzzling like he has been then he'll go off the chart.
If you want to try and decresae the amount your baby feeds then try water inbetween feeds and perhaps a dummy. I'm using SMA extra hungry baby formula.
