Not really a ttc matter but recently been diagnosed with having polycystic ovaries after 13 mnths ttc and no joy and along with a few of the classic symptoms I have been getting really bad boils on the inside of my thighs and under my arm pits. Have asked at the doctors a couple of times about preventing boils and they didn't really have any advice ,just wondering if anyone else gets them and also has polycystic ovaries???

I have PCOS and I get a lot of spots, the only cure I found is change of diet. If you look online you can get some really good insight into how diet can improve PCOS, I bought a really good book Understanding PCOS which gave some recipe ideas and menu plans x

Hi Franjipan,
Don't worry, you're not alone. I have PCOS and I do occasionaly get boils on my inner thighs, which take ages to completely heal.
For me the symptoms are dark facial hair, diffficulty in loosing weight, fatigue, IBS, acne and very irregular periods.
There are a few girls on here with PCOS/PCO who can give you lots of support and advice. Please ask if there is anything you want to know.

Hiya!

I have PCOS too and I have lots of the symptoms but yes... I get the boils on my inner thighs too. I also have loads of ovarian cysts, dark facial hair, crazy mood swings, weight gain, acne and ZERO periods (well... every 6-9 months but no ovulation) so you are so not alone.

:hugs:

At least I know its not just me!! Any solutions on stopping them?? Ive asked the docs a couple of times before I knew I had P.C.O.S and they said there was nothing they could think of, I thought ah, great. I mean I get them so bad sometimes , like on my holiday recently and I could barely walk, sit etc they were so painful. Have just been left with all these black scars on the top of my tighs now where the old ones have gone and new ones come up. Mmmm very attractive!!! Ah well im due to go to my fertility clinic appt in September so Im going to mention it then too and see if they know if clomid or metformin has any positive affect on them?
Krissi I am going to try and take your advice and watch my weight, Ive got to do something.

I think i have PCOS but you girls have just confused me, i don't get pimples or boils, and i don't have weight gain as i havn't lost any weight since i lost my son, no cycst and no facial hair???:dohh::dohh: and first month of O cycle 12 currently on cycle 13...

Periods regular now due to progesterone tabs *POSTOVAL* and i don't have diabetes either....

But i have a huge belly but also due to giving birth full term via c-section and all my tummy muscles were cut off.

Do i have PCOS then???????

Hey Jacky, im no expert as at present have only recently been diagnosed myself and my gp hasnt gone into it with me but ive done a lot of reading and it seems P.C.O.S can be so different for each person. For starters you can have polycystic ovaries but not polycystic ovaries syndrome, think they are two different things, in other words you may have polycystic ovaries but none of the symptoms.
I haven't got all of the symptoms, only get some excess hair, really heavy and painful periods but they are normally regular and ive never missed one. I have battled with my weight since I was 19, was a size 10 and slowly crept up and up and am now a 16. Really struggle with my weight but like I said from what Ive read its different for everyone by the sounds of it. I dont have diabetes either I think they just say because p.c.o is a hormonal imbalance and can effect your insulin resistance, it means you can be at higher risk of high blood pressure, cholesterol diabestes when you are older doesn't mean you necessarily will have all those symptoms.
My mum just gave me a book on it all and its made a bit more sense, like Krissi said she read one with recipe ideas etc and it all makes sense now Ive read that.
Just wanted to ask if anyone else had had boils ect only cos Ive had them for a couple of years now and have wondered why I get them and wondered if it was linked to P.c.o.s. Your lucky if you dont get them, they are horrible, painful and unsightly! Nice combination!
Can completeyl understand why you must be battling your weight if youve only just given birth!!! Wish I had a good excuse like that! Ive got a fat belly and havent had any kids at all!!!! Your weight im sure will come off though in time .
Do you mind me asking, did you conceive naturally or did you have help??
Only im waiting for my fertility appt at end of Sept and dying to get more info on p.c.o.s and fertility x

I did conceive naturally in October 2006 but i weighed 178pounds then, i carried up to 37weeks and 2days and my son was stillborn....
My weight is due to being on bed rest for 2months after my loss, as i had to learn how to walk again as i almost died myself the day i gave birth... at the moment i don't have high blood pressure and no boils or pimples, except the one i get before AF shows up but goes away within 2 days.

This whole PCOS thing really just confuses me to much...

Oh my god, theres me moaning on about my boils and flippin heck look what youve been through, Im so sorry for your loss. Thats amazing that you got pregnant naturally, I wasn't sure if it was really possible.

Yeah it really is confusing isnt it and ive read so much to try and find out about the condition and that confuses me more I swear. I feel sorry for the fertility clinic Im going to in September, theyll be bombarded by my questions!
Thanks for your replies anyway and hope you stay relatively symptom free in the future x

Jacky24 :hugs: You must be so strong to have gone through all that. I have PCOS and the symptoms vary from person to person. Diabetes is'nt part of PCOS, but a resistence to insulin is, that is why Metformin (a drug used for diabetes) can be helpful for some women with PCOS.
My advice to you would be to speak to your doctor who can request for tests to be done. We can give you lots of peronal experiences, but we are not doctors and it wouldn't be fair of us to diagnose and worry you.
I wish you all the very best hun.

Thanks helen 26, i was on metformin, but it didn't work with my body very well, the homeopath did tell me that my body keeps insulin back, and some of the meds he has placed me on is specificly focused on helping me with that.

Most of my weight is around my belly but i have never been diagnosed with PCOS.
