Last night I suddenly started having extreme tail bone pain. Every move, sitting, laying down, walking, all hurt. I feel like I can't do anything, sleeping was impossible, doing things around the house were impossible. I tried an ice pack which hurt and if it didn't hurt it didn't help.

I see a chiropractor but I don't think I'm mis aligned. (But it's possible just my tailbone is "out") I can't call until Monday and even then I'm not sure she can do anything. Same with a md.

I need to function. Between work and taking care of my 2 older boys I can't be down and out.

Any ideas at all?

I fell down the stairs last year and broke my tailbone, so I can sympathize with your pain! As far as things to help, though, I wish I could say more. For me, I just had to kind of endure it until it healed. But since your pain isn't the result of an actual injury, I would talk to your doctor/midwife about it and see if maybe it's actually caused by SPD. :hugs:

I had tailbone pain earlier in this pregnancy. It lasted from about when I was 9 weeks until I was 13 weeks. It was awful! Everything I did, every movement I made hurt like hell. I found sitting on a boppy pillow provided ALOT of relief. I also took extra strength Tylenol if it was really bad. I am guessing now that baby has moved higher, that is why my pain has subsided. I hope you can find some relief soon!

Omg!!! I've had this for about 2 months now!!!!!! So so painful! Can't sit or lay down ! They offered be physio but I work and I don't have time so just grin and bear it ! Ouch I feel for you!

I realized yesterday not only is it swollen but there is a bump about the size of. Quarter. I'm either going in today or tomorrow. It's just unbearable and is definitely getting worse!

I just had this, couldn't even walk without extreme pain. Went to chiropractor and he said it was a locked joint. Did one adjustment and within 3 days I felt much better. Almost totally back to normal now except I can't sit on the floor and then get up without the pain. He said this joint will likely need monthly adjustments till birth and that it's very common and just the hormones in pregnancy causing it.

I also had horrible tailbone pain. I tried icing it but that did not help. I looked online and one suggestion said tailbone pain may be from the sciatic nerve and to try these stretches called piriformis stretch. Look on google, it is super easy to do. I stretched out and it really helped.

I had this same exact situation. I went to a doctor about it and they said it is pretty common to grow a (completely benign) cyst on the coccyx. The cyst grows in response to some kind of trauma to the tailbone. I fractured mine giving birth but for some people just the act of giving birth causes "trauma" to the coccyx. They can do a procedure to drain the cyst, which I had to do because I couldn't even sit for more than 5 minutes. I don't know if this is the case for you but it sounds similar to mine because you feel the bump, which I also had.

I went to the dr I have a pilonidal cyst like you though ajlj. I'm going to see a surgeon in a few hours to see what the plan is. I'm just hoping they can find something to get me going again. I can't be down and out with my boys! Thankfully they start summer school today but still! Pugh! Oh well... Just another set back.

:hugs: I hope everything goes well and you're back on your feet soon! I really was hoping I was wrong, but it's not that bad! We've given birth, we can handle anything, right? :haha:

This is my first bio child. I've just looked at it that it's preparing me for childbirth. Although last night I cried just thinking of how bad it hurt and labor will be coming and naturally may not happen.
