So,

It's been a long time since I've been on this site. I was following advice from family and friends to "Just stop thinking about it, let go of the stress, have fun and let it happen." So that's what I did. I stopped coming here, I stopped using my CBFM, I stopped tracking my cycles....Aaaand I'm not pregnant. At the one year mark I went to the doctors and had blood tests, they told me the test showed that I had not ovulated that month. Then they told me that despite that the NHS was in such a state that they wouldn't help me until I had been trying for TWO YEARS! Well, It will be two years in June. This time when I go I'm going to plant my bum in that chair and refuse to move until they refer me!! I was just wondering does anyone know what the first step will be?

Sorry for the rant!

I don't know what the next step would be (I'm only at the year mark and have been told I need to wait until 18 month) but just wanted to show some support! Have you had the day 21 test yet? I've been told I can have that next cycle and it should (hopefully) confirm ovulation by testing your hormone levels. I think sperm analysis tends to be one of the first things they test too. Good luck Hun! X

Hey! Sorry you are having such a tough time. I HATE when people say things to just relax, etc. I asked my fertility specialist - "Is it me? Do I need to relax?" and she said no, that is a ridiculous thing that people say, and that I shouldn't blame myself. So please don't blame yourself. I am in the US so things here are a bit different, I was able to go after 1 year of trying. The first test was for DH, it was his semen analysis, I think that is pretty standard. And then I had blood tests, ultrasounds, and HSG - all to find out that we are both perfectly normal. Good luck, I hope you can get some answers soon! :hugs:

Hi thanks ladies,

I had the day 21 blood test and it showed I hadn't ovulated that month :( but they STILL refused to help. It's so upsetting and frustrating!

Eugh, that sucks! I thought the whole point of doing the day 21 test was so that if you hadn't ovulated they would look into it further!!! Grr. I hope they actually refer you this time. I would be tempted to book in with the docs now, say you have been trying over 18 months and the day 21 test confirmed that there was no ovulation and you want to be referred!! Worst they can do is say you have to wait till June. x

Sorry about no ovulation this month :( I know how you feel so many people telling you this and my thought it always yeah i cant get it out of my mind i try not to track my cycle or count down to day 14 or check my cm but it just happens i cant control it its like a addiction and i feel like if its not happening when im trying this hard theres no way its gunna happen during ntnp plus i went threw a few ntnp and it didint happen

Hello,
Just wanted to ask are you ttc #1? I heard for your first, NHS will try to help from the 1year mark but if you've conceived before, then its about 2 years. My 1 year mark is supposed to be end of this month and last month after speaking to my ex-GP about my long cycles and possible polycystic ovary they told me to come back this month (1year mark). My ex-GP was pretty useless and yet they still offered to help at the 1 year mark. Last week, I just changed to a new GP which had good reviews and is closer to home but waiting to test for this cycle before contacting them about any help.

Back to what you said I think you should see another GP. 2 years is not an option especially if you have annovulatory cycles. You need to demand for a gynae and pretty much tell them not being able to conceive is ruining your life, giving stress, and affecting your health and marriage....don't give up without a fight!

Good luck hun:dust:

I would try a different doctor..transfer your records...if your insurance allows...some drs just don't care or want to deal with infertility, because it's very stressful and not promising. Good luck!

hello :)
im on the 2 year mark and have just been reffered. got my gyno apo on 22nd may.
nervous n done really know what to expect. i had been to the same doc and he was unhelpful so last month i changed gp, went to a lady she did the 21 day test which showed i didnt ovulate and reffered me straight away.
id go to another doc, it helped me.
good luck hun

We had to get tested twice by the gp before we could get a referral...just standard procedure. Don't know if that is what is happening with you. She didn't actually tell us that it is procedure til the second lot of results came back.

Silly question - but what is the 21 day test? According to my temps I'm not ovulating and want to go get this checked out, but I am absolutely petrified of needles so am very concerned it's a blood test :(

day 21 test is a blood test to see if you ovulated. i used to be sooooo scared of needles until i started TTC. I get my blood taken once a month atleast. and if you get pregnant they take your blood alot too. you will get used to it!
