Does anyone know if I can take a tub of cow and gate formula back to asda, its not been opened and I have the receipt, but I didn't know if they'd take it back or not being a baby product. I thought we'd need it for Callum but he went onto cows milk better then I thought xx

Not sure hun - I worked in head office of a supermarket before and took in a complaint because one of the stores wouldn't give a refund on unopened baby formula.

I don't know what Asda's policy is but I can see why they could refuse - they don't know where that formula's been since it left their store. If a baby got sick and it got out that they had been reselling returned formula, it could be very serious.

Maybe give them a ring and ask what their policy is?

This is why I thought you might not be able to take it back. I'll try and give them a ring tomorrow. thanks for the reply xx

Tesco have no returns on ANY baby products in case a lunatic has tampered with it x

I once swapped a tin of normal milk for comfort in asda (OH picked up the wrong one)

i work for a retailer that sells baby milk, we're not allowed to take any kind of edible baby product back after its been sold, it was due to not knowing what kind of conditions the person has kept the product in, you can always try though hun doesnt hurt to ask

I bulk bought three aptimil and then was told to change to stage two milk. I couldn't return them either.

i took 1 tin and 2 ready made cartons back to my local asda and aslong as you have the receipt it should be ok. they wont without the receipt though because they have to be binned and cant be put back onto the shelf x

Tesco didn't take ours back, they told us it was policy that they can't with baby food.

I don't think they can either. They don't know what type of conditions it's been kept in and whether that has affected the powder.

I'm sure in one of the supermarkets they have signs up saying they can't be returned.

xx

Well i've given them a ring and they said they'll give me the money back as long as I have the receipt, they've said they'll have to get rid of it as its been sold but they'll give me the money back no problem which surprised me as I was expecting a no. Thanks for the help girls xx

I took 3x tins back when she switched from normal to staydown no probs .... Tesco though.

xx

I have a feeling it's something to do with the law on baby milk etc, I tried to take a tin back and swap it in Boots and they said no due to legislation.

Don't know about Asda, but sainsbury's have a notice on the shelves by the baby milk to say they do not accept returns unless there is something wrong with it.

Think I'm going to stop buying my formula from Tesco...
