Has anyone done or plan to take their own birth ball to hospital when they go into labour? I'm very tall so have the 75 cm ball and I know they provide balls in our hospital but I'm sure they will only have the 55 or maybe 65 which will be too small for me. Also at antenatal classes they said about the importance of home comforts in labour and I think I'd prefer having my own there as I plan to use it a lot in labour. Not sure if they will allow me to take it in or say there's not enough space or something?

Hi, I am thinking of taking mine, deflated, and if I will need it, hubby will inflate it for me. Our Hospital has balls, but they are small and I am worried what if the room I am in will not have one...

I think its good idea to ask your MW or ring the hospital...

I asked my midwife about this and she said our hospital was happy for people to bring in their own birthing balls as, although they have some, they don't always have enough. I would double check with your midwife but I doubt they'ed say no.

today my midwife read my birth plan where i have said i want to take my own ball. she said i can do that or the hospital have their own. i think iwould rather take my own though - the thought of someone elses sweaty body all over a ball i may be draping myself over doest appeal :)

I'm taking my own to the hospital. They don't have any for patients.

Our plan is to leave it partially deflated in the back of the car, and once we're situated in a room, I can send my husband to go get it.

i was going to take mine in unblown up too. and take a bike pump with me ;)

Mine takes sometime and energy to be infalted by hand pump so will just pop it in the back of our car inflated and send hubby out for it if i want it :) We have a 7 seater so plenty of room. I would rather use my own in all honesty.
