Hi Ladies,

I am trying to find anyone that has also been put on Taxoxifen (which is primarily a breast cancer drug) to help me ovulate. I have severe PCOS - very few periods and do not ovulate.

Laura

I tried tamoxifen one cycle. It had a much milder effect on my hormones. Unfortunately I did not conceive. I hope you have better luck.

Hi wongabubbles i have just started using tamoxifen. How long have you been on it for? This is my 1st cycle on it, i was previously on clomid and fell pregnant on my 2nd mth but then miscarried at 7 weeks. I then went back onto clomid for another 4 mths but had no more luck so now the doctors have put me on tamoxifen at 20mg from cd 2 - 5. I really hope this helps.
Wish you loads of baby dust x

Hi, hope you dont mind me posting but I was in ltttc for a long time and was on Tamoxifen for 12 cycles, after not responding to a few cycles of Clomid. I have PCOS and ov'd every month on the Tamoxifen (my hospital scan you monthly to monitor your response to it) but unfortunately never fell pregnant on it. (FWIW, a few months after stopping, I lost approx 2 stone, took Soy Iso and fell pregnant with my little dude first cycle on the Soy!).

If any of you ladies on Tamoxifen have any questions, feel free to PM me as I don't always check in here now.

Wishing you all lots of luck and hoping you get your :bfp: very very soon.

Hi Chan - It is my first month too, I'm on 20mg of TMX on CD2-5 same as you; I gotta have CD21 blood tests every month to see if it works, I have only been offered it for 3mths to fingers very tightly crossed it works. I don't know if I ovulated on clomid, was on it for 10 mths, as I was not monitered very much. Feeling ok on the TMX so far, I had horrible reaction to the clomid (loss of sight, hot flushes, dizziness, fainting, severe ovary pain!! Not nice!) so and very please that the TMX is going well, my blood pressure is VERY low at the moment so not sure if that has anything to do with it???
Will be coming up to the two year mark of TTC soon so hoping to beat that :)
Wishing you every success on the TMX - sprinkling lots of baby dust your way :D

Hi Steph - thank you so much for your posting, it is really good to hear that the TMX helped you ovulate, there is so little info out there about this drug being used in fertility it's good to get some positive feedback. Your lil guy is very gorgeous :D you must be very proud

Would your hospitals not scan you (normally around CD10-12), to check if you are about to ov? It gives a much clearer indication of how you have responded, as it also checks the thickness of the lining of the womb - when I was on Clomid I overstimulated, 5/6 follicles each month, but the lining was so thin that even if we managed to fertilise the egg, there was nowhere for it to implant basically, which would not have been picked up by the blood tests. Might be worth asking.

Hi wongabubbles i see that you are on cd6 is that right? So am i. So please to meet people who are taking tamoxifen as not many people are taking it let alone heard of it. I'm really hoping this works as i so want to be a mum just like most of us on here.
I think its great that we can all share stories and advice.
Hopefully we can both be bump buddies together if it works out for us? I have also taken Steph advice on soy as at the moment having bad side effects on tamoxifen but gonna give it another mth to see how it goes then and if i still suffer then will have to come off i think. Just can't wait to see what my results will be from the blood test on. Have you had any side effects on tmx? I'm also using the cbfm so i will know from that if i ovulate so keeping my fingers crossed.
Wishing you loads of success to hun, sending baby dust right your way xx

Steph my doctor hasn't advised anything about a scan but i will mention that to him aswell when i next go. I guess i maybe haven't been scanned as i got pregnant on clomid on my 2nd cycle but miscarried so we knew i was ovulating but then again i'm not sure. Theres so much information out there and all doctors are very different as i am finding out xx

Hi Steph - seeing my doc on 24th so will see if he'll be up for scanning me next month, worth an ask.

Hi Chan - yes I'm on CD6 too, definately supposed to be bump buddies together :) what side effects are you having on the TMX??? Is the Soy a natural supplement? I'm taking so many pills I best not take any more for fear of rattling when I walk.
Currently on 1000mg Metformin and 75mg Aspirin per day as well as pre-pregnancy vits - then the TMX too - when I do get pregnant the baby will be a pharmasist! LOL :D

Steph63 told me about soy will only take this though if i'm off tamoxifen as don't want to mix them together. Yeah it is, from what people have told me its like a natural clomid which you can buy in tesco's. The side effects i am having are serve headaches, hot flushes, dizzy spells, feeling sick.
I'm feeling really excited about tmx now i have found other people who are on this. Just found the other forum with you on and a few others, which is good as we are all on different cd's so we know how its working for them.
Kinda see what ya mean with all the different tablets i'm lucky as only on tmx and sanatogen folic acid xx

Sorry to hijack post but I was just wondering what Trust you are under Chan1983? I too am in Lincs but am on Clomid. I just ask as I wonder if this will be my next drug if Clomid doesnt work. xx

Hi hope 13, you haven't hijacked at all. I am going to grantham hospital so i think its under united Lincolnshire. Which hospital are you going to? My friend who also has pcos along with us was given clomid at 100mg for a yr and now its ivf for her. Yet i only had 6 mths of clomid at 50mg and now tmx.
How are you getting on? x

Hi Chan,

Just noticed your status says you are feeling sad... what's up? Apart from the obvious of course, I'm here if you need to rant/sulk/curse/vent, whatever will make it a little better.

I've been out with my best friend today, who is 34wks pregnant, it was lovely to see her but it hasn't put me in the most positive of moods.

Can I ask, do you have regular periods? I noticed that you are marked down as ovulating (based on a 28 day cycle) - as I don't have reg periods I have no idea when I am supposed to OV. However think I might be this month, have you had any signs??

Hi wongabubbles how are you? i'm really down at the moment. My brothers wife is pregnant and is due very soon. She has caused me some real problems. She always rubs my face in it and has lied to me as she said you could never get pregnant but I have since found out that she lied about this and many more things. To make things worse she even caused a massive arguement between me and my family.
I decided to go out shopping to buy that baby things and she hasn't even said thank you and i spent loads! That makes me mad as it was so hard for me to go baby shopping.

I saw my brother and her last night and he said thank you and spoke to me but she wouldn't even speak to me which i think is really rude. As they were out this afternoon i popped over to my mum's to go and have a catch up and they then showed up but she wouldn't even come into the room as i was there so i had to leave my own parents house.

I really hate the bloody girl and she is making my life hell. All ive done the past 3 days is  I'm feeling really alone at the moment and i just don't know how to turn it around. Sorry to go on.
I know how you feel about being around friends that are pregnant and although your happy for them and you want the best for them you can't help but feel jealous and unset that things aren't that easy for you.

Well for the past 1 and half my cycles were every 28 days up and then they stopped for 2 mths but they have started again started now but i don't think my ticker will be right as not sure when or if i have ovulated this month so really :? at the moment as to where i am. I did have cm yesterday but it had brown streaks of blood in it, which has never happened before so really lost. sorry if tmi.
As you don't know when your ovulating are you using the tests to see when you do? Have you tried to cbfm i use it and so do some of my friends how have problems and its worked for them. Might be a good investment so as least you have some idea. Really pleased for ya if you have ovulated - i shall keep my fingers crossed for ya hun xx

Aw Chan it sounds like you are having an awful time at the moment

I'm sure your brother is lovely but don't you just feel that the wrong people are getting pregnant, it seems to be a collection of mean/negligent/cruel women.

I read the comments of hundreds of women of the TTC and LTTTC pages on this site and wish that it was those women (including us) who had little bundles of joy on the way instead. But no... :nope:

I have mega sore boobs today so very hopeful that I OV'd in past couple of days :happydance: not too keen on doing the digital tests (I'm guessing what your abbrievation means) or mapping my temps - I go a little too crazy if I do all that, I just try to have regular sex (every 36 ish hours mid-cycle and every 2/3 days for the rest of the cycle, excl. AF).

I have hospital appt on Friday so hoping that my blood tests will be in so I can find out if I did actually OV (will also find out what my egg reserve is like,as had ovarian drilling in Dec and worried it has killed off my eggs! :dohh:)

It will be our turn soon, it has to be... :hugs:

Take care - speak soon

Yeah i know what you mean. It makes me mad when people get pregnant and don't care and continue drinking, smoking, and going out on the town when there are loads of us itching to have a baby and we all want this more than anything and we all deserve it so much more.

cbfm is the clearblue fertility monitor its expensive but bloody good if it works, although on ebay it is cheaper. I don't do my temp tho. My next appointment with the hospital isn't till september so i'll ring the hospital up to find out my results - i'll give it about a week or so and then ring and by then maybe my af will have arrived.

I don't know to much about ovarian drilling but isn't that meant to help you get pregnant? So do you have pcos and if so how long have you had it for? I've known for about 6 years or so now :hugs:.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS for 6 years too, I have a three year old daughter who I conceived naturally after two years of trying (I only had a period every six months or so and managed to fall pregnant! the news I was preggers shocked everyone, especially my doctor!)
I fell pregnant again when my daughter was 3mths old (MC at 14 wks), couldn't face trying again so soon, so waited a while - this was my big mistake. Now I rarely have periods naturally and even on Metformin and Clomid I did not OV - TMX is my last route before IVF (not funded).
My LH levels are always very high the OV predictions test always show as positive, as they detect the hormone but rather than it being a surge it is a constant.
For some reason my attitude seems to be changing - perhaps I am finally realising that it may not happen without IVF but I do feel more relaxed about everything, I feel incredibly sad all the time but not fretting like I have been for over a year.
My little girl keeps asking why her friend is getting a baby sister and she isn't - that breaks my heart. I'm sooooo lucky to have her and for that I am truely thankful but I feel as though my family isn't complete yet I want another baby just as much as I wished and hoped for my daughter.... I hope you do not think I am being selfish, I always thought 'as long as I can have one' but things have changed, I'm hurting just as much this time round.

Sorry to bang on about me, having one of those days.

The trace of blood in your CM is a very good indicator of OV I am told, perhaps and early night with the hubby is in order - once the footie has finished in my case!!! LOL

The drilling is a 'last resort' as it does damage to the ovaries (scarring) but gives the body a 3-6mth window of reduced cysts etc aiding OV - wouldn't recommend it.

Oh bless ya. Although i want a family more than anything tamoxifen is our last chance as we won't go through ivf so i'm just hoping this works. I haven't heard of anyone who has fallen pregnant on this yet so not to sure if this will work but only time will tell.

I bet you was completely shock when you find out your were pregnant. They things you have to cling to is that you can get pregnant and carry to full term. Its good that you feel relaxed as it could happen now.

According to the cbfm i'm on cd19 and had the ovulating sign yesterday and today so fingers crossed for me. I'll be testing on 4th July if the witch hasn't come which is my 2nd wedding ann so hubby and me are off on holiday for a week so gonna just go and enjoy ourselves. It would be the present wedding present ever if it was to work and we get our BFP.

Oh bless ya little girl at least she would like a little brother or sister. Have you tried natural soy? This could help, my friends suggested it to me. I haven't used it before but will try it when i'm off tamoxifen.

You haven't been going on at all, we all have those days where things get to much and we just wanna scream.

Sending big :hugs: to ya hun. If ya ever want to talk or anything then just message me xx

Hi Chan - been to the see the fertility doc today. The Tamoxifen is WORKING!!!:happydance::happydance::happydance:
My progesterone levels have always been under 2.5 (equivelent to 'post-menopause') Ovulation occurs when levels are >30.... my levels yesterday (CD21) were 94!!!! :happydance:

I really needed this boost - I have been feeling so low and full of despair.

Fingers-crossed it has the same affect for you :hugs: here's hoping for being July 2011 bump-buddies :baby:

Have you had some CD21 blood test since being on TMX???

Thats fantatsic new hun, really pleased for you :happydance:. I had my blood test today so will have to wait for my results, think i'll ring the hospital next week for my results as i don't see the doctor til sept. On cd22 and will be tessting on 4th July which is our 2nd wedding ann so hoping this will be the best present ever.
Have you had any side effects from Tamoxifen? I still having some bad dizzy spells. So when you gonna start testing? I think i'll try to wait til the 4th. Going on holiday on the 2nd so will be gutted if it comes back bfn, just hope it doesnt ruin my holiday.
Hun if you need to talk or anything you can always message me any time.

I agree lets hope we get our :bfp: together and like you say we can be bump buddies sending you :hugs: too xx

Hi - Happy Anniversary for 4th :)

I've had some serious dizzy spells, my blood pressure is very low too; I can handle that more than the headaches & intermitent loss of sight I had on clomid.

Would love to know if TMX has worked for you too - keep me posted.

I can't work out if I'm experiencing OV pain, or implantation pain or pre-period pain; I got bad lower back pain, really low cramping (middle), excessive CM (creamy white - sorry if TMI), serious mood swings (keep crying) and tender boobs... Very confused....

I'll bet it's our turn now - you'll have the best holiday ever (even if you won't be able to drink! lol)
