Target Brand blue dye l l test, not +/-...is this a BFP?

SO I took a Target brand blue dye test. I have heard lots of evils about blue dye, but they all seem to be about the +/- type tests, and this is a l l type test.

The test line is very thin, but very blue. I took the first test with SMU at 9:30, and then took another out of the same box at 1:00p and it was BFN (but could be due to diluted urine, etc). I thought for sure the first one was positive, but then I was reading about the blue dye tests being so bad.

I'm going to take a pink dye FRER tomorrow morning, but I was wondering if anyone has had a thin line on a l l style blue dye test and was in fact pregnant?? :help:

I can't. My camera isn't sophisticated enough to take a close-up pic (even in macro mode). :dohh:

But the line is thin, like a thread. And it was definitely blue right away (in 3 mins as recommended).

Sounds hopeful since it was within 3 minutes :)? Can't wait till you test in the morning. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks! I will definitely post in the morning. I went out and bought 3 FRER and 3 Target brand equivalent to EPT (its a +/- test, but uses pink dye). The people at Target must think I'm crazy! Lol.

Now I just need to pass the time. :coffee: I always feel so anxious when waiting to poas.

I've had very skinny blue lines with blue dye and they were :BFN: Don't want to be Molly Downer, just don't get TOO excited until you test with a pink dye.

Its all blue dyes that are bad hun, its just the plus minus ones are more commonly sold. Although blue dyes are awful for evaps (poas.com did an experiment and men and fish tanks got bfps on them:( !) lots of ladies do use them to confirm pregnancy and they work fine.

I too dont want to be a downer, but generally if its a skinny line its an evap- iv had evaps on those l tests before- they came up right away and were so blue i thought id had another chemical when af turned up, so because of that i really dont like them but,as i already said, lots of ladies use them with no problems- i really hope ur one of them!! When i got pregnant i used one of those tests i had left as an experiment, and the test line was very thick and in the centre- my evaps were skinny and some slightly off centre.

Use the FRER with ur FMU- if ur pregnant ul get a lovely line on one of those!!!

GL!! Keeping everything xd for u,its so nerve wracking being stuck in limbo isnt it?
xx

I don't trust blue dye at all.

I can get a faint + in the middle of AF during a cycle where my husband is deployed....

My history with the FRER isn't very good (got the faintest of lines at 18dpo with my DD who is now 20 mos old while other tests were super dark).

Does anyone have experience with the pink dye +/- tests?

Thats strange, have heard that happens with some people though. What test did u use before with ur dd?? I always found frers to be great, but i know not everyone does.

No experience with the + - pink dyes, iv never seen them actually. But pink dyes seem more reliable, i think its just something to do with the blue dye. Maybe do a digi?? May be too early, but if the blue dye was a bfp, u should get a + on a digi id think??

When are u testing again??? GL! xx

OK, so for some reason I woke up at 1am needing to pee really bad (symptom of pregnancy I hope!) so I did test then and it was BFN with both FRER and Target brand +/- pink dye tests.

(I have to throw in some of my so-called symptoms: when I went back to bed I was experiencing a burning sensation in my hip joints, and a feeling like round ligament pain; I was having pain in my ankle joints and my lower back; I was feeling a bit nauseus too; also I was having trouble falling asleep until about 2:30.)

I just woke up at 5:30a, again needing to pee badly (I haven't drank anything since 8pm last night!) so I decided to test with SMU. Again BFN on the pink dye tests, but I got another weirdly questionable BFP on the l l blue dye test (I know, I know, why use it at all if it is what sent me into this POAS spiral, lol. I told you I'm an addict!:test:).

SO, I'm feeling slightly disappointed, but still hopeful since its still very early. I'm only about 9-10dpo (my pos OPK was on May 10th).

With DD I used the dollar store tests, which I found to be much more sensitive than the FRER, oddly enough. I'm going to go out today and buy some more of those since I just POAS'd my way through about $35! And I'm not convinced by the BFNs, so I'm gonna stay positive.

And who knows, I may test again today with 3MU since that'll be around 9:30am at this rate. :winkwink:

Ok, so I didn't test with 3MU. I guess I have a little self control. I did go buy a couple of Answer brand HPTs (pink dye) to see if they'll give me any kind of BFP tomorrow morning. I haven't made it over to the $ store yet, but that's still on my list of things to do.

I've had the very thin blue line too- just like a hairline, with this baby it was BFP, and its been BFP once before but also a false positive on other occassions, damn though blue tests. Good Luck x

Another weird side note: not one of my tests has an evap line. None of the FRER, Target brand version of EPT, or the Target brand l l blue dye tests. I just have a bunch that are totally negative still, and two blue dye tests with a hair's width blue line. Kind of amazing to me since evap lines seem to be so prevalent.

Were your false positives a hairline too? Or were they more full width and pale blue? Was your BFP dark, even though it was thin?

thin blue lines are evaporation lines, Ive had this happen loads of times...

when i got my bfp, it was super faint but thick! a thick blue line.

if its thin, its an evap....

They were all thin, the false positives and the BFP's looked exacly the same - the BFP's were very early I must have been around 9dpo i think though I hadnt had a period for 3 years  as I am still Breastfeeding my youngest, so was a bit of a shock :haha: The lines were easy to see, they werent really faint, but were hard to pick up on camera because they were just so faint. I think you are in with a chance, fingers X! x

That's an example of a +/- test, and I know the horizontal line can "bleed" into the vertical, causing the thin line. But my test is a l l test, so there's no line touching it that could bleed dye into it, that's why I'm so unsure.

So I called the manufacturer to inquire, and they were closed since they're on EST. I did get connected to their FAQ automated line. I pressed 3 to find out about unusualy looking test lines or reference lines, and they talked a lot about missing reference lines, and how it can be due to the wrong amount of urine used, etc. They never really addressed the issue of unusual looking test lines other than horizontal/diagonal/streaky lines.

I then pressed 1 to inquire about positive or negative test results, and all they said is that there should be two blue lines running in the same direction. They never addressed the matter of thickness of those lines in relation to eachother.

I'll be calling back on Monday to talk to an actual person. But hopefully I will have a pink dye BFP by then.
