I have recently registered lo for once a week at nursery.. This has been recommended to us due to his speech delay.. He's not entitled for 15 free hours till Sept so this is costing us £10 a week. He starts the 22nd.. When do I notify tax creds and what do I need to know?

You need to let tax credits know the day he actually starts as you cannot update before then x

I can update childcare details a week before changes but I'm not sure if that's because we are already on the system for childcare tax credits. You work don't you? Just to warn you, you can only get working tax credits while you are on the paid bit of maternity leave, if you take any unpaid leave in the last 3 months you have to notify them and won't qualify for the childcare aspect just for the unpaid window, just to warn you as I only found out when I rang them the other day as DS1 still goes to nursery 2 days a week even though I'm on leave (he gets free hours but I still have to pay wrap around care).

Oh you need to know who the registering body are of the provider i.e. Ofsted, and they will have a special number that proves their registration, you also need their address and how much you pay a week.

Thanks, I'll ring them the day he starts as I also need to declare my new income to them so will do it all at the same time.
Unfortunately I cannot take my unpaid time off as can't afford it but thank you anyway! :hugs: :flower:
