So I rang up yesterday to tell them of my address change and also that I have moved in with my partner, and they said that she could send out my final rewards on my single claim and that I had to call a different number to make a joint claim...
Thought that was a bit odd so I googled the number and it came up as the adjudicators office and loads of things about overpayments came up.
Tried to call a lot yesterday and couldn't get through so rang tax credits back and they said I just had to keep trying and they were putting a note on the system to say I had been trying. I asked if I had been overpayed and they said no.
Tried again ringing the number today and STILL cannot get through.
Has anyone else been given the number for the adjudicators office? I don't understand why it isn't straightforward!!
Also, I'm assuming this means that I will be without any tax credits until I can get hold of these people - does anyone know how long that could take?

Someone help!! :( xx

I just called again, apparently I haven't made an overpayment. and Tax credits can't deal with it - usually they do, but in some cicumstances it gets passed on. I have no idea why, and from the sounds of it, neither do they. Its so frustrating! xx

What omfgski says is true. You will need to end your current claim and make a new joint one. Also if you have moved in with you partner prior to informing them then you will prob have a slight overpayment as they will tell you you needed to give them notice (happened to me.) I'm not sure about the other phone number as when i called they just ended the claim and then we started a new one from scratch. Hope thats helps a little x

Normally you have to end your current claim and then do a new one but I've never dealt with any other number than the number you call for Tax Credits, they've never given me another number
