Im 30 weeks pregnant with 2nd baby, just in the process of working everything out so we know what we will have incoming while on maternity leave etc, we renewed our tax credits a few weeks back now & none of our circumstances or incomes have changed .. Same hours / same wages etc etc (I was on maternity leave for part of last year, and will be again this year, as its a small-ish age gap between my little ones!) so nothing at all has changed ..

When we renewed we received an extra payment in the region of £300, to which we were told was because we were underpaid last year .. since then our renewal has come through and our Working Tax Credits have dropped from £80 a month, to £20 a month ..

Anyone any ideas how they work this out, seeing as we got an under payment AND no circumstances changed?! ..How can we have been entitled to the extra payment due to being underpaid, and then our tax credits are reduced?! So confusing, to be honest, we can manage without the extra, though abit more of a struggle, but thats not what annoys me, its the fact that surely its not been worked out correctly?!

xx

all of the thresholds have been greatly reduced this year which could explain the significant drop hun x

Yeah, the thresholds have been changed drastically, so lots of people who once were entitled, will now no longer be, a lot of people will have lost money, and a lot of people it will have had no effect on at all xx
