I moved house on the 8th November and completely forgot to inform HMRC. I rang them as soon as I remembered a couple of weeks ago and they said a letter has been sent to my old address regarding an investigation and that I have to wait for the letter to be re sent to my new address.
A few days ago I found out I've got a job so I rang HMRC back today to inform them of this and they said that I can't make any changes on my claim until the investigation is completed. I asked if there is anyone I can contact as ive not received a letter yet and they said there isn't.
Now I'm panicking. Can I get in trouble for forgetting to change my address with them? The only other thing they could be investigating is that I have been claiming contribution based JSA for the last 23 weeks but the job centre said that I didn't need to ring the HMRC about this as contribution based jsa isn't taxable.
So confused and worried!
