Teats and Loud sucking noises!

Hi ladies, I brought 6 avent bottles when I was Pregnant for Oscar as these are what I have used with my other 2. For some reason every time I feed him He makes noisey sucking noises both sides of the teat that sounds like loud kissing if you know what i mean? Its obvious he's taking in lots of air so I need to sort it, It just so happened the health visitor was here yday at feedtime and she told me to try some orthadontic teats, she seemed to think that any teats fit any bottles think she was a bit out of touch! I ended up coming home with tomee tipee closer to nature bottles but the same thing is happening again!! Grrr so frustrating! anyone any ideas? I'm also wondering if maybe he should be on faster flowing teats as hes got a really hard suck I really have to pull at his dummy to get it out! funny how different babies present different dramas huh xxx

Are you on the number 1 teats?

Which milk are you using?

I think I read somewhere that you are using C&G COMFORT? If so, you need to switch to at least a number 2....I switched to number 3 for leo as 2 he was sucking like crazy! If he is a good sucker you should be on a 2 teat/variflow if on normal milks x

Thanks Jaqui, I thought he might need a faster teat but I didnt want to encourage colic if I was wrong he's on SMA gold at the moment so i'l go get a couple of 2's and 3's and see what he can manage xxx

Layla does this too, she has a stage 2 teat on her water but dribbles with it a bit, so have kept her milks on a stage 1 teat. She brings a decent amount of wind up and drinks it ok so don't worry too much hun

Milk is thicker than water hun, she should be on a 1 with water.... Leo is on a 3 teat with milk but hes on thick milk but ive kept his water on a 1.

Yes I agree. Mine couldn't even get Comfort out of a number 2 Avent teat. Had to switch to a variflow.

Mine have been on SMA Gold for a few weeks now and they seem better with a number 2 Avent teat. Their adjusted age is only 6 weeks old so their sucking reflex is like a 6 week old baby. Number 3 might be too fast for him though - I'd only use a 3 if you are giving him a thicker formula IMO.

ella is on variflow teats and has been for a few weeks, that way she takes what she needs, if she is sucking too much she gets more food and slows down (on slow flow she used to go crazy trying to suck when first feeding and once belly had a bit of milk in she would slow down but in the meanwhile causing lots of wind and all sorts!)

worked wonders for us changing to variflow, she eats at a pace she wants to now! xx

i tried her on stage 2 teats but they were too fast for her..

tried her on tommee tippee bottles as they are supposed to latch onto them better nut she hates them!
