Teddy?

Love it 😍 and don't worry when teddy is a grown up there will be adults called apple, sugar and princess so teddy will seem very normal... Xx

It's a really in name, but I just can't picture a grown man named Teddy?

What about Teddy Roosevelt? :)

In MY honest opinion, I like the name a lot. Very classical and reminds me of the person above.

However, most people use Teddy as a nickname. I imagine kids in today's world (unless there are a bunch of other people that go by Teddy) would be pretty cruel. From my understanding, one of my family members went by Theo for a long time because he was being bullied when he was called Teddy. His wife and friends he made as an adult call him Teddy.

Teddy Roosevelt was a great man but he still had Theodore as his birth name ;) sorry just had to point that out lol

I always just feel they should have a "fall back safe" name on birth certificate. Eg. I would always use Benjamin, Alexander etc on birth certificate even if I would only ever call them Ben or Alex x

I like it but i could never convince my oh. so we ended up with an elijah :) I might win next time :p haha

My DH's grandfather was called Teddy and was an incredibly well respected adult man! I think he will shorten it to Ted if he feels he needs to. We're going for (Edward) Ted for a boy or (Thea) Teddie for a girl this pregnancy as DH's grandfather passed away unexpectedly just after we told him about the news and he was so excited. I don't really mind what people think of the choice as I love both names. :)

I love Teddie for a girl too :)

I love it :) I love the name Ted, my mum's first husband was called Ted, when she lived in America.

All of your responses are helping so much, thank you!

If Pip is a boy he'll be Ted or Max.
I dont understand why people say it wont grow as I see Ted as an old mans name. So if he is Teddy he can be Ted when older x

We are hoping to have a Ted if baby is a boy. I do think that Teddy is a cute name for a little one and I'm pretty sure we'll use that as a nickname. However once he gets into his teenage years I imagine he may think being Teddy is a bit immature or childish, hence Ted as official, name not Teddy. I really don't like Edward or Theodore though. If you really like Teddy, go with it. Don't let others change your mind :)

I like it. I know two adult men who go by Ted in work-related situations and never use Theodore anyway. Close acquaintances still affectionately call them Teddy. They're both just really cool guys and would be able to pull off any name and be taken seriously no matter what. Your personality always ends up driving people's impressions of you whether or not your name raises some people's eyebrows. If you can't pull off your name or command respect, you've got much bigger problems. But I simply find it cute.

Our son is called Teddy and we love it. I've never had any negative comments about his name post birth although people pulled a few faces whilst we were pregnant. I would say the baby has to look like a Teddy as it's quite unique. Our son has big brown eyes floppy hair and was made to be a Teddy, as he gets older we've started calling him Ted x

Would you respect a boss, judge, etc names Teddy? I would definitely go with Theodore or some other full length name. I'm in the US though and I think the UK may be more accepting of cutesy names on grown men.

I really doubt it'd matter as he could go by Ted. I am from the U.S to and one very historical man is known by Teddy even though his name was Theodore so I do believe people can indeed respect a man named Teddy. Respect has little to do with a name, and everything to do with the personality and attitude of the person.

Plus to be honest U.S can not say much when it comes to names as there is a little girl out there and her mom named her Hashtag :haha:

Ha ha amongst other rediculous names. Glad to say the majority of the uk aren't judgemental on names when making the selection process for hiring ! ...... I hire execs for a living and I said before my son is called Teddy !

I hate the argument of can you imagine a doctor/judge/barrister/etc with such and such name. I couldn't care less what someones name is, along as they can do the job! Im pretty sure no respectable, decent employer would turn down a cv because they didn't like the name. My name is Porsche (like the car) and I've never had any employment issues!!
