Just have had a nasty surprise with one of my teeth, its been aching since after the birth and I'm going to lose the tooth.
Is it true pregnancy can cause major teeth issues?? I heard that it did somewhere.

It did for me, I had to have 2 root canals with dd1 and this pregnancy I've broken both those teeth again! One filling and in the middle of getting one crowned!

I have no personal experience, but an old wives tale states that you lose a tooth for every child you bear! Not sure what the reasoning is, but there you go…. no help at all!

I just got out of the dentists chair today and asked them about the bleeding gums that I've read about. Both the hygienist and dentist were women told me this is bunk. They said it quite often is related to teenagers getting pregnant and the fact is they have issues taking care of themselves from the start, nutritionally and hygienicly, never mind being pregnant as well. They said it is a wives tale but stems from adolescent pregnancies.

I think there's some truth in it as we get free dental care when pregnant in the UK

Yep ruined a premolar first pregnancy, patched it up, then broke it completely in my second pregnacy and had to have it extracted! I had an implant fitted about 6 weeks ago, getting it crowned next year. Think the opposing premolar on the other side may crack this pregnancy. I'm a grinder in my sleep, much much worse when pregnant, and it's killing my teeth! :dohh:
Better start saving its costing me a fortune!

Yes and the reason is during pregnancy the baby takes calcium from your teeth. I have had two root canals fillings and four teeth pulled after my second pregnancy it was horrible I wish you luck!

Yup. My teeth were a mess after having my little dude. My gums too!

My dentist also says NOPE, wives tale. I disagree, I only have 2 fillings, each one after a PG.
