Hi

Some of you will have seen the post I wrote this morning about whether or not to go to baby group because lo had a runny nose.

It's now nap time and she is just miserable! I suspect the runny nose might be related to teething. She is rubbing her eyes, is clearly so tired, but has woken up twice after just 10-15 mins & it's just taken me almost an hour to settle her again. This is not like her!

It's hard to see in the dark, but she seems to be rubbing at her front gums and pulling her lips over them. She has had a teething sachet and it doesn't seem to have helped.

Her last 'teething days' only ended two days ago and they seem to be starting again, only worse! They are getting progressively more uncomfortable for her, longer and closer together. I'm really hoping some teeth come through soon for her sake!!!

So, what was it like just before your lo cut their first teeth? Did the teething get longer and closer together? Did your lo struggle to sleep/nap? Did the sachets help with cutting teeth or not? Tell me everything - even if it was really hard work - I want t know what we're in for because I don't think lo is going to be one of the lucky ones that sails through

I didn't even notice. Just maybe a little more drool and then one morning he woke up with a tooth!

DS was a bit clingy for 2 days before his 2 bottom teeth cut and then back to his normal self. By clingy I mean he did not want to be put down and did not want to play on his own.

My daughter spit up quite a bit before cutting her first tooth. This was not normal for her, so I thought she was sick at first (though she had no other illness symptoms)- then her first tooth came in. Also, during teething, she would cough a lot. Again, I thought she had a cold, but her doctor said she was coughing from all the salvia/drool from the teething. Every baby is different, so side effects differ quite a bit.

k4th - I'm in the same situation. LO seems like he's been teething for a couple of weeks - I just want it come thru already! I will be watching this post for replies.

Just drool and red cheeks, and he STTN (12 hours!) and had a tooth the next day.

It's horrible to watch isnt it. It doesn't help that lo refused calpol tonight! We even put it in a bottle teat but she was having none of it! Hope we both see some new teeth soon xx

Try an Amber teething necklace, my lo wears one and he's been fine so far and has cut one tooth and the second is coming through now, I only use dentinox at night on his dummy as he loves sucking it off and it puts him back to sleep lol

We have an Amber teething necklace. She started teething at 12weeks ish & the necklace really took the edge off. We've barely given any painkillers or sachets until about this time last week when it started to get really bad. I'm really glad we've got it because if this is teething with the edge taken off I'd hate to see her without it!!

I haven't tried dentinox though. Is it a gel? :flower:

I've been using Anbesol on the advice of Baby Club, it's good stuff! I'm waiting for a tooth, it's been months of teething but still nothing. I can see the outline of two bottom front teeth more and more now though and he's pulling at his mouth most of day, drooling loads but still NOTHING lol! It must be so painful for them x
BTW re the calpol, I cannot get Louis to take it from the spoon so I use a Dentinox dosing syringe from the colic drops bottle and he takes it really well. It measures 2.5mls x

i 2nd the anbesol liquid. ive used it with all my 3 children. the gel tends to move around the gums but the liquid is instant numbing on the spot. ive always found it very effective and had several hv's recommend it x
