I am really scared of going into labour early
I have my date booked for the 8th of june however due to my pre-eclampsia there is a slight chance I could deliver earlier at 38 weeks if it gets worse although at the moment its being monitored by midwife three times a week. I have been getting tons of tightening s pretty much on and off all day and period cramps but am hoping this is could go on for two weeks and not mean labour is going to happen really soon

any ladies who went into labour before their scheduled C-sec date?
did you make it to hospital in time? did they give you an epidural or spinal pretty much straightaway before your contractions got terrible? and were you wheeled off into theatre pretty promptly?

my fear is dilating to 7cm or more by the time I get to hosptial and it all being too late for a section even too late for an epidural, is labour usually that fast? I am talking about half an hour to an hour???

I hear you, the thought has also crossed my mind. I spent a whole night freaking out about it and consulting Dr. Google.

From what I've read online, if you go into labor before your scheduled c-section, you would go to the hospital right away and they would bump up your c-section. If I start getting contractions, I'm going to call my doctor and find out how soon I can go to the hospital. I'm guessing it depends on how close together the contractions are. I honestly don't know what my doc will say if it happens; I'm assuming based on what I've read online that he would tell me to come in. So far so good, I've only had a few Braxton-Hicks, nothing at all major. I have an appointment on Friday so I will ask.

How are you feeling?

That happened to me. I had my section booked for when I was 39+4 but my waters broke at 37+5. I phoned the maternity hospital straight away and explained to them that my baby was breech and was due to have my section ECT. I got told to come straight in to the hospital (an hour away from us). Unluckily for me, my OH was at the pub for his last boys night out before baby thinking we were safe for him to go out!! I got myself sorted whilst he started to walk home. I got in the car and drove to meet him and then headed into the hospital (me driving, luckily was only getting very mild contractions very infrequently.
Got to the hospital and the checked my pad to make sure it was my waters, checked my urine, bp ECT and asked all the routine questions. They were quite busy that night with other emergencies and said that as I wasn't contracting too frequently then they would prefer they waited 5 hours after I last ate which was about 2 hours previously. That was fine by me so I lay and baby was monitored. I started to get bad contractions then and they came quicker and quicker but the midwife kept an eye on me and checked me to make sure I wasn't too far dialated. They came through to take me to theatre not long after that. If it hadn't of been so busy with other emergencies I would have been taken a bit sooner.

You would be VERY unlucky if you started labour and didn't get the hospital in time. Just make sure you phone your midwife if you have any worries. GOOD LUCK XXX

yup my son decided he wanted to come a week earlier than my section date, my waters broke at home, i rang the hospital and they told me to come in, they check if i was dilating etc etc and took me straight in for a section held my son that night, which i didnt expect that morning when i woke up lol

thank you ladies, well as it turned out I did not get to labour as I had an EMCS four days ago before she had engaged. Even if I had wanted induction it was unlikely she would have passed through the vaginal canal but she is healthy and that is what matters

all the best xoxo
