Greetings mommas! I am newly pregnant with #2. My first pregnancy was traumatizing toward the end. I had pre-e then a terrifying induction that led to an EMCS. I am scared of this happening again. At least last time I was 38 weeks when things fell apart. Has anyone had a pregnancy with pre-e then gone on to have a healthy one next time? The only person I know who had pre-e and has had another child already got it both times. BUMMER!

Hi ya, your story sounds similar to mine. I got pre e when I was a few days overdue and also had a traumatic induction and narrowly escaped having a EMCS.
The statistics are weird for pre e because it says online that it is more common in first pregnancies but if you have had it once you are more likely to have it again.
I know that doesn't help you but at least this time they can keep an eye on you and pick it up straight away.
Sorry I'm not much help xx

I had it again and likely this time too but I have a weak kidney so you may escape it Hun try not to worry to much at this stage it's still early days and usually after say 25 weeks before it becomes an issue most women make it to 37/38 weeks with monitoring, you will be more closely monitored and by time you get to 28 weeks seen every 4 weeks if things are stable also consultant led.

I know it's easy for me to suggest not worrying the minute I got that positive test all I can think of is prem babies and pre-e once you get to about 16 weeks you'll find a spell of inner calm and things will seem more positive.

follow the pre-e thread started by Torres it's good seeing so many previous suffered get to beyond 37 weeks with little bother although at times you will feel you may as well move into the maternity unit lol xx

I had it last time - it was picked up at 35 weeks and I made it to being induced at 37 weeks and had DD then. I was v sick in the last few days and had to have a mag suphate drip to prevent what appeared to be a strong likelihood of fitting and uncontrollable BP and quite a lot of protein in urine. My bloods were always fairly normal though. My PE was classed as severe.

I saw a professor who is an expert in PE recently before TTCing. He said I'd be 80% to not have it at all, and 20% to have it but milder and likely later. I think those odds are the same for 1st time mums. He said the chances of something going badly wrong/v prem baby etc would be the same as anyone at all out there. I'm taking mini aspirin now. It's advised from 12 weeks and he said I could start sooner if I wanted so I started at 7 weeks (I'm 8 or 9 weeks now).

Hope that helps, and hope nasty PE doesn't come back for any of us!

I've had it twice, first starting somewhere around 20 weeks and very severe causing hellp syndrome, the loss of my son and near loss of my own life and the second time it presented around 32 weeks but it was much much milder, I only had to deliver due to low fluid, if I hadn't of had low fluid I would have lasted much longer. It is really worrying and I was terrifed the second time around too and still worry now but this time you are considered at risk for developing pre e so they should monitor you much more closely and you will be more aware of what to expect and look for. The second time round I knew instantly and took myself straight to the hospital. Also as said above low dose aspirin is great, I believe that helped me get further plus I'm also taking clexane and high dose folic acid which again I think works wonders. Hope you feel a bit better, stay positive and listen to your body :) x

Hey Hun. I also had terrible preeclampsia with.my first.bed rest for months and horrible delivery. It took me 13 yrs to try again because it was a terrible experience. So far no preeclampsia at almost 16 wks. Fingers crossed for both of us. Good luck!

Im keen to watch this thread too as i too had pre e in my first pregnancy, i developed it at 20 weeks and again like PP i nearly lost my own life aswell as giving birth and loosing my son at 25+3 i had siezures etc at 23 weeks this time i had a uterine artery doppler scan which can help determind weather or not i will get it again and sadly one side of my placenta as notchings in it so my per centage has gone up, its just a waiting game to see if and when
