Ella Grace. my beautiful baby girl!
Friday morning i woke up at 8am. id been having what seemed to feel like period cramps. my contractions had started.
but they were just a little uncomfortable and i managed to breath through them.
at 11.30am, i went for a pee and POP! my waters broke at the top of the stairs. i shout chris and tell him to ring the birth centre.
as my contractions are only 15mins apart and not really that painful, they tell me to come in at 2pm. i get my bag ready asap and then my plug came away at 11.40am.
we decide to go straight there and arrive shortly after 12pm.
starting to get a little stronger, but i manage to walk up to the centre, breathing a bit more now.
the midwife escorts me to a room and i have a little bounce on the birthing ball. i have another contraction and i start on gas and air. the midwife then tells me that after the next contraction. she is going to check to see if i have dialated.
she does and im 5 cm.
they decide to run me a birth pool and i get into a gown and onto the bed. gas and air starts to kick in and im feeling a little more relaxed.
10 mins later i have this almighty urge to push, but i cant control my body and just zone out thanx to gas and air. dont even have time to get in the pool.
4 pushes later and my gorgeous girl is in my arms, and all i see is big blue eyes staring back at me. me and chris both have a cry and i cant believe its all over.
luckily i didnt need stiches
ella grace was born at 1.37pm on the 19th august 2011. 50cm long and 6lb 7oz. big blue eyes and lots of dark hair.
daddy has a hold and she pee's on him straight away.
the midwifes were also amazing and i couldnt have asked for a more caring and dedicated set of women.
its a good job we decided to go to the birth centre when we did, or ella may have joined us in the living room.
ella's birth was nothing like i imagined. my birth plan was to have an epidural at the earliest point as i felt id be more relaxed. but it was so fast, i didnt have time. all i had heard was horror stories and the idea that i wouldnt be able to cope. in the end, gas and air was enough for me and i let my body do the work. i had a wonderful experience and wish i had been more calm this last month and gone into it with an open mind.
everything was well with mummy and baby and we were allowed home soon after.
at 5.30pm. i was enjoying a kfc and looking forward to the x factor.
ella is a wonderful baby and me and her daddy are so in love with her.
she is already a daddys girl!!!
