The Crafty Corner

Farie, that's gorgeous. If you made a few you could make a beautiful patchwork blanket.

Pixie I love your little cardie. A friend knitted us one for Kate and I adore it. There's just so much care gone into a hand knitted item.

I'm trying to knit a hat, as my sister got me a kit, but it's not going well. I keep picking up stiches and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I make door plaques and things from Fimo clay. They aren't brilliant but it keeps me out of trouble lol

Am currently making 5 soft play blocks for her with blue swatches of material. I've stitched a letter onto each block, which together spells her name. I hope that it will help her learn to spell her name before she's in school, and in a fun way. I may stitch numbers onto the blocks too, to help her learn to count to 5.

Also want to make an advent calendar, but like a washing line with pegs, and attached to each peg is a sock numbered between 1 and 25. The idea is that you hang a sock every day until you get to xmas, or put a chocolate inside each sock and the kids eat one on each day.

I also want to make her a stocking, but haven't got around to it yet. I bought Cath Kidston fabrics for it. The
body of it will be this fabric (https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=c...0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0&biw=1111&bih=618) but with a white background colour, instead of blue, and this one (https://www.cathkidston.co.uk/p-11683-cath-kidston-spot-red-cotton-duck.aspx) for the top part, which is folded over.

So many more things I want to make, and I get a lot of ideas from these sites:
https://www.makeforbaby.com/index.php
https://www.make-baby-stuff.com/index.html
https://www.marthastewart.com/crafts

I don't know if I'm allowed to post sites here. I'm not intending to advertise for them, just saying where I get my inspiration from in case anyone else wants to use the sites.

Lara your stuff is fantastic. Thanks for the links going to get some ideas.

those links are great they are in my favourites now yey.
I have just had a new sewing machine so need ideas xx

Thanks ladies. Every nice word means a lot to me, because I studied textiles at school for five years, and I was crap  I hadn't sewed anything more than trouser hems since, and only started again once LO was born, and it was only because she needed the things I made and we couldn't afford to buy them.

My MIL has since bought me a little handheld sewing machine, and I have a bag full of material and sewing tools. I've done a complete 180! I never would have thought it. But if it encourages anyone; the things I make are all very easy; they have to be because I don't know how to do that much with a needle and thread!

The pram blanket and taggy aren't from the sites I've already listed, but let me know if you want advice on making them. I'd like to make a little Humpty Dumpty too (https://www.ikatbag.com/2009/07/humpty-dumpty.html), but it looks really complicated because he has detachable limbs and his body splits in half to reveal the inside of the egg. It's really sweet, and the lady says it's simple, but it doesn't look it! I get psyched out very easily, because my skills are very basic :haha:

^^^Oh I like that Humpty Dumpty! Wonder if I could make him out of socks lol!

hi everyone. i thought i'd try my hand at the blocks and this is how they turned out. not the best but im getting there.

I wanna make that Humpty Dumpty! We should have BnB craft projects!!

Hi

I've seen that humpty dumpty before and would love to make it, but I'm not sure if my skills are up to it!

I recently bought a sewing machine, and so far I've made LO two dresses, some shoes and a Mei Tai (excuse the bad pics!)

I'd really like to make LO a stuffed Waybaloo knock-off job because she loves them so much, but all the toys I can find are for 18M+
