okay so what can i not eat, and what can i not do? i know there are huge lists and i havnt gone to doctor yet, can't get in until next week what shud i be doing and not doing? i'm only 6 weeks

First of congrats on your pregnancy :)
Well the most important thing right now is to start taking Folic Acid, they come in tablet form and it's very important to help prevent neural tube defects. And if you can get some I'd start on with pre-natal vitamins as well, a store brand will do until you can get to the doctor.
As for foods to not eat:
lunch meat (just heat it before eating)
soft icecream
Fish like swordfish that contain high amounts of mercury
Keep caffeine consumption down to a minimum

Also try to keep away from smoke, really heavy lifting. Most of it's just common sense things really :flower:

But hun, don't get yourself paranoid. I remember when I read my first "pregnancy" book I had myself so worried that I swore I wouldn't leave the house until my baby was born lol

firstly congrats :)

and in my book that i've got from the midwife's here it says food to avoid (its a long list) :

unpasturised milk and products containing unpasteurised milk
liver products and vitamins containing vitamin a
raw or partially cooked eggs
cheeses like camembert, brie and any blue cheeses
pate
raw or undercooked meat (steaks etc have to be well done not rare or medium rare)
fish like shark, swordfish and marlin
raw shellfish
alcohol
undercooked ready meals

you should also wear gloves when gardening or changing cat litter and wash your hands really well after handling any pets

other than that folic acid and prenatal vitamins are really important ... in the uk (dont know where u r) u can get something called pregnacare ... thats got everything u need in it :)

if u want to know anything else feel free to PM me and i'll try and help ive got loads of books on pregnancy so should be able to answer ur questions lol

congrats on your pregnancy :) I can't really add anything to what the other girls have listed! but I'd say folic acid is definitely something to look at starting to take :) x
