The Fertility Diet - how to maximise your chances of having a baby at any age - I found this for 50p in my local charity shop and had to grab it!!
Its about maintaing optimum fertility at any age - they believe if a woman can eat right to keep her system functioning well then she can have a baby at any age and that we should not worry about '35' being the magic age. She also believes many of those who have ivf or fertility treatments could concieve more naturally

Anyway here are a few do's and don'ts on what to eat to maintain fertility:

The fertility superfoods: (DO EAT)
Alfalfa
Algae (blue green)
Almonds
Aloe Vera
Apples
Apricots
Asparagus
Avocados
Bananas
Beetroots
Berries
Broccoli
Carrots
Cauliflower
Celery
Coconut and Coconut milk
Cucumber
Fennel (until ovulation)
Flax Seeds (until ovulation - i think so?? google it!!)
Garlic
Grapefruit
Grapes (red)
Hazelnuts
Hemp seed protein
Himalayan Crystal Salt
Leafy greens and Spinach
Lemons and Limes
Maca
Pecans
Pumpkin Seeds
Quinoa
Sea vegetables, spirulina and Kelp
Sprouted seeds and grains
Sunflower seeds
Sweet potatoes
Walnuts
Wheatgerm
Yams

Infertilify foods (DO NOT EAT) Foods this book states actually negatively impact fertility:

Aspartame (in most diet soft drinks - i kid you not it says 'consider all diet drinks and low sugar food containing aspartame to have a skull and crossbones on them - this substance was once listed by the Pentagon as a biological warfare agent! Every time you ingest it, a residue of wood formaldehyde is left behind - forever.')

Animal Fats
Fish from Mercury contaminated waters
Fried foods, trans-fats and commercial oils
Genetically Modified foods
Junk foods
Meat (commercially raised animals can be fed hormones to stimulate growth, which can get into the bloodstream when eaten)
Monosodium Glutamate
Peas
Red Clover
Rhubarb
Soya ( many debates about this - its one to Google )
Sugar
Wheat/Gluten

Herbs - ginkgo biloba, st.johns wort, and echinacea may cause infertility in men by reducing the sperms abiloty to penetrate the egg, lowering sperm viabiloty and damaging DNA.
Blue cohosh, raspberry leaf, burdoch, camomile, fennel, sage and thyme can all stimulate uterine contractions so should be avoided after ovulation and during the 1st trimester.
Parsley is a conception superfood but should also be avoided after ovulation.

So there you go - hope its useful!! All this information is taken from 'The Fertility Diet' by Sarah Dobbyn

Who is it by?
I don't know if icould be that strict though.

Sure.

Also, dance in the rain and rub your glass ball.

My diet consists of the DO EATs and I rarely eat DON'Ts. I am undergoing infertility diagnostic treatments these days.

I bet it's because I didn't chew on enough almonds.

Not sure whats up with the negative comments?

Thanks for posting. This list was very informative. I need to make a few changes to my diet it looks like.

You are so funny. I love seeing your posts.

I like this post! I know that you are not holding a gun to our heads and saying that we need to do this ".... or else!" You're just trying to help us out by letting us know about good foods vs. foods we should think about limiting in order to help increase our chances for conceiving. And in all honesty, foods we should probably be eating anyway.

And for that I will say "Thanks!" Best of luck to everyone!

I have done a bit of research into this, and I think it's very informative...infact it's probably the way we should ALL be eating...pregnant or not! Thanks for this post...and it's very encouraging! I had NO idea about the aspartame! eek!!! Gotta stay away from that one for sure!!! THX!!!

thanks for the responses - LOL at some of the negative comments, I am not saying that if you eat the DONT list you will never fall pregnant, just that it may be wise to reduce them and try to eat more of the DO's. it certainly cant hurt as its pretty healthy to add these things to your diet for their other benefits as well..

Its a really interesting read, she has written other books on diets to help diseases - its by Sarah Dobbyn.. it was well worth the 50p i paid for it!!

was just sharing didnt mean to cause offence!! take it with a pinch of salt if you will xx

Thanks for posting this info Josephine its really useful. I got very similar information from The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis so next cycle Im starting taking the following:

FX this diet works for both of us xxx

I truely believe in what we eat can correct problems, thanks for sharing this x

I am confused on the parsley I took it for 3 days last week to help AF come. I know its said to increase blood flow to the uterus . but the fact that its used to bring on AF worries me about taking it around ovulation. I did have EWCM for the first time ever before AF came while drinking it , it was just a little bit but I thought it was strange.

I think the bottom line is eat as many natural, fresh, whole foods as possible and limit or eliminate GMO, processed, artificial foods. This is a diet we should all follow, TTC or not. Thanks for posting a great resource for healthy eating!

Thanks ChattyCatty I agreee, TTC or not its something we should all try to do - eat more natural, less processed foods. its gotta be good for ya, right?!:winkwink:
