I know almost everyone says that microwaving bottles can create "hot spots" in the bottle that can burn baby and can destroy nutrients (I don't know how true that part is). However, we heated up bottles in the microwave with my nephew and my cousin. We never heated up the formula, though, so we wouldn't be destroying nutrients. We put a bottle of water in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds, then shook it up to clear the hotspots. THEN we put the powdered formula in. Both babies never complained or cried during their bottle feeding this way. It was way convenient, especially when my sister made about three bottles for the day and put them in the fridge. We would just heat them up in the microwave and shake it up good before serving.
So how do you guys do it? Do you still suggest heating water and placing the bottle in a warm pan or a bottle warmer or what? Or, is it really necessary to heat a bottle to begin with? Our filtered water from the fridge can be pretty cool without ice, so it may give baby a brain freeze if not warmed a bit. Suggestions? Advice?
