We decided on calling our boy Finlay but do you think its a bit of a woosies/whimpy name? We do keep coming out with other names but not that i really like as much as i do Finlay...what do you think

Dunno, i'm in the same predicament, lol... keep thinking the same thing myself as Finley is my #1 at the min!

I think its a cool surfer type name! My OH doesn't like it though and it doesn't go with our surname....

I LOVE Finlay but prefer the spelling Finley. Its not wimpy sounding at all, def one of my fave boys names , like it shortened to Finn too . xx

i love it too but OH isn't keen. Def not wimpy :)

I am biased as I called our Little Man Finlay but spelt as Finnlay but we do call him Finn.I do agree that I see it as a surfer dude name and he is blonde with a natural MoHo going on lol.I liked it as I love Finn and also love Finnlay so its never going to bug me people calling him the short version.xx

It's not a name i hear very often hear in the US (actually i never heard it... but see it on here alot). I really like it! I think i prefer the spelling: Finnley. I don't think it sounds "wimpy" at all!

Thankyou all, i just can't think of any other name that i really like...looks like Finlay is staying, only one other problem now....how am i going to spell it

Finlay
Finley
Finnley
Finnlay

Hmmmmmmmmm  lol.

I love this name too, and it was at the top of my list till OH said "Imagine teachers shouting it across the playground, will sound like "EFFING SMITH/JONES (surname)" if they just call him Finn! never thought of that, but he's dead set against it so its a slim chance I'll get my way!

their used to be a great old Irish actor called Finlay - big in character and name, I love it
