ok so we have started to look at prams and have decided we want one that goes from newborn to as old as we can, we also want one where the car seat can be used on it for convenience in a rush. We've narrowed it down to two The silver Cross Surf and The Bugaboo Bee.

I was very much sold on the Silver Cross until we went to john Lewis and the sales man there went through all of them with us and suggested the bugaboo would be better. It is lighter which is good as I’d have to carry the pram and baby up and down a flight of stairs every time I left my flat, he also said it was better quality. The silver cross however does look nicer and also has the added bonus of having it's own car seat that matches that fits on, with the bugaboo you have to us the maxi plus one and buy adaptors, It also looks better for the baby as I'm not sure I like the cocoon with the bugaboo as I’m worried the baby would get to hot as we go into summer (I'm due beginning of march) I’ve been researching both today and both seem completely inline with each other and seem to have equal fans on both side.

Has anyone else looked at these or brought and have any advise? I need help!!

We got the cameleon, after putting down a deposit in the sc surf. I didn't like the surf in the end as it was bulky, and the chassis was an odd shape. The basket is tiny too. I wanted the bee+ but OH said no as it is too small for him. The bee is great, folds flat in one go, no removing bits etc. Easy to get on and off a bus or in and out the car. With the surf you buy the car seat separate anyway so it ends up costing about the same. I agree the cocoon is quite warm, and not as good as the way the surf is flat for newborns. I guess that's the compromise you make? Oh, and we bought our cameleon 2nd hand for £350 and it looks brand new, came with adaptors and accessories. Then just bought the maxi cosi pebble - tada!

The Bee+ is great and perfect for using on public transport and in towns but if you plan on walking over rough terrain or uneven paths etc a lot it wouldnt be the best imo. I am planning on getting it as my boot buggy next spring summer. I like the Surf but its expensive enough and iirc the seat unit is very small.
I have gone for a Bugaboo Cameleon like tootsweets i bought it 2nd hand it looks like new in really fabby condition. It is suitable for all terrains, seat faces both ways, is really really light, lovely to push, has proper carrycot, can be used with maxi cosi cabriofix or pebble, is great in the snow or sand using the snow wheels, all fabrics come off and can be washed in washing machine and you can change colours of hoods, aprons, seat liners and get customs made for it.

hummmmmmmmm i had my heart set on the bug cam....... i find the wheels on both the surf and the bee too small for the walking i do

one thing i do want to mention is there is no incar base for the SC so you have to strap it in each time you use it and double check you done so correctly......

i ended up going for the M&P rubix in the end as it looks a bit similar, came with free car seat, has carrycot already included and was half the price including all accessories, what more could you want.

i used the SC freeway when baby sitting and the car seat was a pain without a base and also i found it not overly well padded..

For your situation, the Bee. I have the cam as well but it's 2 parts.

we've been trying to way up the pro's and con and don't know what we think we should see as a priority right now. it is down to the flatness and comfyness of the surf against the easier fold and lighter weight of the bee. I'm hoping that when it actually comes to getting one (a few months off yet) i will just automatically like one more and that will be it. my OH and I keep changing our minds though and never seem to agree.

Quite the opposite in our case, they sold us the silvercross surf which we are getting!
I work for John Lewis anyway, so tracking my order at work is funny, wierd seeing my name on screen - Miss S Francis, Silvercross Surf... delievery on 'x-day' LOL!!!!

i really like the SC surf.... i think its lovely, OH wasnt so keen neither is he on the bee...but im determined to get one for the summer:D lol

we was going for the bugaboo cameleon, still reccomend this to anyone.... but i felt sick when i added up how much everything came to over £1400 xxx

My oh and I have gone for the silver cross surf. Looked at hundreds but they didn't come close!! We considered the bee but it seemed to me to be more suited as a second pram for holidays and breaks away. For us it was just too small. I've seen them out and about and I hated the way that babys feet seem to hand over the end once they reach about 9 months. X

Hiya, sorry to intrude over here in pg section. I have the silver cross surf. I bought it as I fell in love immediately. Since then I have fallen out of love. The newborn insert that came with it didn't 'lie flat' at all. My LOs bum was up in the air no matter how much I fiddled so I ended up buying the carry cot for it! Around 3 months my L.o hated being in the carry cot so I had to start using the pram bit. 1 major let down for me was the shopping basket. It's none existent!!! Another thing I never thought about whilst pg was how I was going to get the pram together holding a baby! I wish I had bought a pram that folds down together rather than taking the seat unit off. Now my LO is getting older I am once again falling back in love with it as he now fits in the pram seat and likes to si up and look around. But it's very annoying having no shopping basket.

Just thought I'd let you know what I thought after nearly 6 months of using it.

Xx

We went for the SC surf, as it had to fit in the boot of a fiat 500!! I considered the Bee too, but it didn't seem to lie as flat as the Surf. Also some of the reviews were mixed as to whether the Bee is truly suitable from birth. Hope that helps x x

I've gone for the bugaboo bee plus, obviously I haven't actually used it yet lol
But I love it, and I think it lies down flat enough for a newborn, although I've bought the maxi car seat & adapters so won't be using the seat unit for a while. It's just so light and folds really small and is a dream to push. I love how you can change the hood and colours and buy all different liners for it, so it'll never get boring :) x

We're still no closer to deciding. I have since found out that my sister-in-law actualy brought both and when we asked which one was best she was split. If i could afford both i'd love to as the surf seems better for the first 6 months (as the bee in pram mood seems to exposed) and the bee seems better from then onwards. It's all so confusing!

Thank you so much for all your advise though. xx

how often will you be out in the first 6 months??? after 9/12 months will you get a light weight stroller??

The Bee+ even though from birth def isnt as flat as the SC surf or as cosy.
What about getting the Surf now and then selling when baby is 6/7mths and buying a Bee+?
Cheap Surf in this eBay shop https://stores.ebay.co.uk/babycareb...i.html?_nkw=Surf&submit=Search&_sid=141223325 I have bought from them before and couldnt fault them.

MissMayhem, we were hoping to get one that we could use from birth and for a couple of years afterwards (hopefully) which is why both the bee and the surf appealed to us.

Treelo, we were also kinda hoping that we could also use the pram again if baby number two comes along in a few years. Thanks for the ebay shop though. We had hoped to get either prams cheaper on line.
