The start to my infertility journey. Advice/Encouragement?

After trying to conceive for about a year, I met with an infertility specialist last week. I have gone through a twin miscarriage at 12.5 weeks (with no symptoms until the miscarriage) in October and two chemical pregnancies since then.

I just went for my consultation, and I have to go in on Monday to get my thyroid and progesterone, and another test, prolactin? The doctor thinks that I may have a thyroid disease or low progesterone because my cycles are only 26 days, and I ovulate on cycle day 12. He said that he likes to see ovulations occurring on cycle day 13 or 14.

Does anyone have some advice, encouragement or anything? I never expected to have any problems getting pregnant, and problems with infertility are not something I know a whole lot about. Thanks!

Unfortunately welcome to this part of the website, by unfortunately I mean my sympathies. It's never fun to hear another person dealing with infertility. Although I don't really have any medical advice I just want to say that welcome to the family of the infertile. It sucks major butt but there is a lot of support in these forums. If you feel bitter and need to rant, no one will judge you because 95% of us are bitter as well lol. Sending my many good wishes and luck to your rendez vous! :hugs: lots of babydust! :babydust:

Lemondrops, I'm not sure exactly what prolactin is but there is a thread in this section about that. I think it's called "dostinex and getting pregnant". They would be able to answer some of your questions I think.

I have an underactive thyroid which I take meds for so my levels are regulated, but my cycles are like yours when I'm not taking any fertility meds...26 days O on cd 12-13. And honestly after that thread I decided to have my fs check those levels if they haven't already. GL!

My best piece of advice would be to educate yourself so you can have that In your arsenal at the toughest times. I hope your battle is short but I'm always one for preparation. My other piece of advice is to acquire something that will help you cope.

I'm at a much better place since starting all of this and my coping was with the support of the ladies on this forum (special shout out to my ladies in the venting thread).

I hope your stay is short. Good luck!

Hello,

I was told from my doctor that as long as my lp is not less than 10 days it doesn't matter what ady you ovulate, and from the days you have given your lp is a good 14 days

As for prolactin I got this off wikipedia so not sure how reliable it is
"High prolactin levels also tend to suppress the ovulatory cycle by inhibiting the secretion of the follicle-stimulating hormone"

Hope this helps
