The Ultimate "Driving Test" Thread!

Well done Kate, thats great news that you've passed! How many faults did you have? :D

Kiki, don't be so hard on yourself. I know it's really tough not to be, you go over the whole test in your mind, wishing you could do things differently, but frustratingly you can't. Draw a line under this one, take a couple of weeks to calm yourself down from it and then focus on the next go.
Being on your 3rd attempt is nothing to be ashamed of, hell, I'm on my 4th. A friend of mine sat her test 7 times. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is, try not to dwell on the amount of times you're doing the test, although the one aspect I completely identify and sympathise with, isn't so much the fail, it's the cost of it. Just keep your chin up. You WILL get there. And despite the failure on that particular bit, 4 minors is amazing. You CAN drive. :) xxx

Sending big hugs your way and hope you feel better soon.

thanks girls :flower:

i got 10 minors, it was actually the worst ive ever driven so i was really shocked when he said id passed i was about to cry cus i thought id failed!! the other 2 tests i did i only got 5 minors and 3 minors so i drove better then just made one stupid mistake on each- its down to luck on the day i think really!

good luck girls, u really can do it- i never thought it would happen for me

xx

Well, I'm not doing my actual driving test but I have my theory test two weeks today and I bought the dsa official guide to the hazard perception test and it sucks basically because there are only 10 clips on it whereas in the test there are 14 aren't there? So basically I've practised those over and over again and now virtually memorised them but I don't feel like I've got enough practice for the hazard part of the test. Arrrrrggghhhh! Why only give you ten clips grrrrr

Well done cupcakekate
Hopefully 3rd time luck works on me too :flower: xx
And hazard perception is difficult but you just need to concentrate and click whenever somethng could cause you to slow down or change direction :) I sat theory 2 times and the both times i got 50/50 for questions (so proud of myself lol) but first time i failed by 1 in hp and i hadn't even driven a car when i sat it both times and i stil managed to pass so just concentrate and you will do fine :flower: Click when you see something that could be hazordous and click again when the hazard start to form :) x

Big :hugs::hugs: Kiki

Well done Kate

MrsB, look on the internet for practise hazard pereception tests to give you a bit of variety x

My confidence has been knocked by the crash, which isnt good when my test is next month  Even my driving instructor noticed, and made me pull over on Friday and have a chat, he says I need to let go of the guilt/blame because it wasnt my fault. I went for a drive in my own car with my brother yesterday to help my confidence, and drove from where I live near Heathrow to Bagshot, then to Portsmouth and then Portsmouth to Southampton all via A roads so probably150 mil-ish :happydance:

my test is in less than 2 weeks and the panic has set in again as its getting closer. Went out practising today with my b/f and i was doing loads wrong. I couldnt bay park - to be honest sometimes i can do it and sometimes i cant!!!! i dont know what to do about it. the only manoeuvre i can do without problems is the 3-point turn. The others are all hit/miss! I know im going to fail - i havent got the confidence to pass! :(:(:(:(

150 miles is really impressive. :) It's not surprising you're a little shaken up still after the crash, but just take things slowly and rebuild your confidence up the best way you can. Practice a little each day maybe? :) xx

Are you going to be having lessons in the run up to your test hun? If you are, ask your instructor to devote an entire lesson to doing the maneuvers until you feel more at easy with them. :) Have confidence hun. I'm sure you'll be able to do it. xxx :hugs:

I'm having a lesson today for 2 hours and i'm going to tell him i want to spend an hour on the manouevres before driving about anywhere because its stressing me out. Its been hard to fit in a lesson because iv'e been working loads of overtime on nights so i'm in bed all day the next day and back up again for work and he lives quite far so only does my area on certain days! i am going to try and fit one more in next week before my test next thursday xxxxxxx

this has loads of clips on. Its fab.

I dont have someone to practise with every day but I am doing two hours with my driving instructor twice a week and from next week or the week after that will be two hours three times a week

Leafy I find that doing it continusly makes it harder and more frustrating for me, so my driving instructor gets me to say reverse around the corner twice then go for a ten minute drive, then a turn in the road, a ten minute drive and the parrallel parking, and so on. It sticks in my head better that way cos I get frustrated/annoyed/angry with myself if I cant do stuff.

I did two hours of driving today and had three minor faults

arrrrgghhhhhh! i don't know what I'm doing. My theory test is on tuesday and this hazard perception test is soooooo stupid :growlmad: I have the dvd/pc-rom that MF suggested above and I've been scoring quite well on that, passing every time. But the official DSA dvd and the app I downloaded on iphone is completely different and I keep scoring really badly :dohh: On the pc-rom one it says to click whenever you see something that may be a hazard even if it doesn't develop into one but on the DSA one, you seem to get penalised for doing that :headspin:

For those that have taken it, pleeeeeease pleeeeeease help, what should I be doing? Please help, I really don't wanna fail on this bloody hazard perception thing cos I'm breezing the questions lol :flower:

I think sometimes if you click to quick it does not register lol its ridiculous. I always waited 2 seconds after I saw hazzard and then clicked. Seemed to work x

argh!!!! its my second test this thursday girls :( and im doing it after a night shift cuz couldnt get it off, i am DREADING it :(:(:(
