The Ultimate "Driving Test" Thread!

Hun. they would have pulled you over if they had a prob xx they wont get back to you for that hun, its only speeding and parking tickets they would let you know AFTER.

And dont worry because I drove nearly a mile in THE DARK with no lights on when I passed. Awful!! x

Aw i'm glad its not just me :) I just shat my pants when i realized what happened :dohh: Thats a relief ....everyone kept flashing me before a police car passed and i just thought they were saying thank you for some reason but now i realize they were trying to warn me :haha:

I still panic about police and convinced they always are gonna pull me over lol xxx

My OH has just made me feel like shit :( I could cry.
Went out in the car again and he got frustrated with me when trying to reverse out of the driveway onto the main road. Kept telling me I'm making things more difficult etc.
Then driving in a 30mph zone he asks me "what the fuck am I doing?" cause I'm driving around 27mph (there was a police car so I was being extra cautious) he got me all out of sorts and I literally just wanted to stop the car and get out. I asked him what speed limit the road I was on was to double check and he said "your the one who's just passed her test and apparently knows everything". He basically argued with me sll the way there :(
I made him drive home, he's quitting smoking so he's snappier than usual but he doesn't understand that I'm nervous in that car, especially with my daughter in it, and the way he's acting is making me feel 10x worse!

My OH is exactly the same!! The other day we went into the multistorey carpark in town and the only space I could find was one on the very end. So I go to drive into it and he says 'no, reverse in' and I was already driving in, so I said no im fine! Well, I couldnt get in tidy then and I started to flap about it and actually asked for his help, some instructions, anything!! to help me get in there and he said exactly what u just said ''youre the one who passed and knows everything, do it yourself'' ARGGH I couldve cried I was so angry with him and upset, there's no need to act like such a twat, I wasnt speaking to him for ages then and he had to get the car out for me when we went back hehe xx

How is everyone doing? xx
I'm doing great :) been out driving a lot now, not been on a duel carriageway yet though just because i haven't need to go on one yet but feeling more confident but stilll really excited when i think, "oh i can drive" haha :haha:
How you doing? x

I have had to use the dual carriageways from the start of my lessons due to where I live but not properly used motorway yet! Starting to not over think driving and feel more relaxed. First insurance payment tomorrow! EEEEEEEEK

I've still not had a chance to drive yet. Goddddddddd by the time I get to drive, I'm not going to remember how to do it lol!

insurance i pay 25 pound a fortnight so 50 a month :nope: i have put in 30 quid in petrol so far (oh pays it and then i pay it the next time) .... im struggling financlially more than ever because i have to get a full birth ceritifcate (i didnt get a full one at birth i just got an abbreviated one :( ) and new photos for passport and insurance again soon ..i hate OH mum right now...she took 5 months to send the passports away and now i doubt i will get it in time by the time i have time to apply for my birth certificate and then for it to get posted, i then need to get pictures and get oh sister to sign a bit she missed on the applicating and get my mothers birth certificate too :( and then to top it off im practically guaranteed an interview which is like a 2 month waiting list because i cant give much details about my dad :dohh: We go away in July, i have my graded unit to start this week for college and im begining to feel over whelmed by it all :dohh:

In brighter news my OH has told me the second i feel ready to TTC we can :) So hopefully we will be financially ready by december xD wedding will be put on hold though so we can afford it but so excited! x

Thanks me too :) i know i should be grateful that she paid for my flights but at the same time i could spit with anger! She also made a comment about my mother being a "bigger lady" ....i dont even want to go on this free holiday anymore :nope:

To the people that have passed, how many hours of lessons, or how many months were you learning before you were ready for your test?

Ive just started learning again, after giving up a few years ago. Feel like im never going to get to grips with the gears.

I took about 45 hours? took 11 months for me to pass and the first 3 months were hour and a half lessons and then i cut down to one hour after that so think it works out at about that :) I took a 5 month break because my first instructor scared me from driving :dohh: - had 8 lessons with first instructor but i dont count them because he taught me bad habits and made me scared on the road x

Thanks :flower:

I was taking lessons about 5 years ago but stupidly quit them when my ex husbad left me.

I feel like a complete learner again now, although my instructor has said that he can tell ive had lessons. Im doing a 2 hour lesson a week. Im determined to see it through this time, especially as i now have LO and would like to take her places without spending all day on busses lol

I don't know how many hours I did... But I did two hours a week, from the start of October to the end of May. Passed at the end of May.

I started when I was 21 for about 4 months then stopped. Then resumed when I was 25 and passed a 18 months later! In that 18 months I changed instructors 3 times though! and was having lessons once a fortnight to begin with (simply due to the cost of lessons!)...towards the end and towards my test I started having 2 hours a week. :)

In total I probably did around 80 hours. It took me a long time to pass because I am not a natural driver. I also had alot of stress at home which didn't help (ended up crying in a few lessons!) I guess it just depends on your stage of life. I was ready to give up quite a few times till I found my last instructor!

I probably spend well over 2k on driving lessons and booking tests! :/

I am not ashamed to say that I found learning to drive a struggle. Some people do "three" lessons and then pass lol but some take 100 hours. It does not mean the latter is a less capable driver than someone who passed after less hours. In some ways I feel I gained vital experience. I drove in dark, rain, fog, sun, after lack of sleep, stressful day...etc LOL. I took my test when I felt 100% ready and it paid off because I passed. I didnt just pass and not feel confident either as I did feel ready and I knew I was capable.

Sorry for my rant :)

P.S Kiki....My insurance is nearly 100 a month :)

This is soooo true, I feel the same.

What irritates me is when people put me down because I've just passed my test. Like when I'm in the car with someone else who is driving and they do something I know would be heavily marked down on in a test, I get ridiculed for it because they have been driving for years.

Yeah ok, they may have been driving for years, but over the years they have accumulated endless bad habits whereas having just passed my test and having been fresh from learning, I'm under the impression that I'm the safer driver because I haven't picked up bad habits and I'm still very much aware of safety etc.

So....yeah....I may be a new driver but in some ways it makes me the better driver because I'm still fresh from learning so wish self righteous drivers who've driven for x years would quit thinking they're better than those who have just learnt.

LOL! Waaaaaaay stressy this post is haha! wasn't my intention
